On the market there are many devices available to do that, but making our own is awesome. In this project, the Google assistant requires voice commands. Adafruit account which is a cloud based free IoT web server used to create virtual switches, is linking to IFTTT website abbreviated as “If This Than That” which is used to create if else conditional statements. The voice commands for Google assistant have been added through IFTTT website. In this home automation, as the user gives commands to the Google assistant, Home appliances like Bulb, Fan and Motor etc., can be controlled accordingly. The commands given through the Google assistant are decoded and then sent to the microcontroller, the microcontroller in turn control the relays connected to it. The device connected to the respective relay can be turned On or OFF as per the users request to the Google Assistant. The microcontroller used is NodeMCU (ESP8266) and the communication between the microcontroller and the application is established via Wi-Fi (Internet).

When it comes to a house, this concept can be aptly incorporated to make it smarter, safer and automated. This project presents an approach to incorporate a two level biometric based security system in deploying Internet of Things IoT for smart home system, together with due consideration given to user convenience in operating the system using an android based application to monitor, control the electronic appliances in the house. The objective of the proposed system is to ensure that the access to enter the house and thereby render the services of certain automated electronic applications are only by the legitimate users, and not anyone else. By using biometrics it is possible to confirm or establish an individual's identity. Biometrics has the potential to make authentication dramatically faster, easier and more secure than traditional passwords. This project adds mainly four features security, safety, control and monitoring to home automation. This approach ensures to provide all the operations done smartly thus avoiding any manual interventions until necessary. This project differentiates itself from others as it provides a low cost effective, compact and reliable secured home control and monitoring system with the aid of biometric fingerprint authentication and biometric face recognition systems for access and to control the equipment and devices remotely using an application over a portable Android device. In many areas it already seems that AI is in charge, from choosing drivers for a ride, to choosing targets for rocket attacks. None are without a level of human oversight: in some cases the overarching rules are set by humans, in others humans rubber-stamp opaque outcomes of unfathomable systems. Can we design ways for humans and AI to work together that retain essential human autonomy and responsibility, whilst also allowing AI to work to its full potential? These choices are critical as AI is increasingly part of life or death decisions, from diagnosis in healthcare ro autonomous vehicles on highways, furthermore issues of bias and privacy challenge the fairness of society overall and personal sovereignty of our own data. This talk will build on long-term work on AI & HCI and more recent work funded by EU TANGO and SoBigData++ projects. It will discuss some of the ways HCI can help create situations where humans can work effectively alongside AI, and also where AI might help designers create more effective HCI.
