AI-proof your career by Olivier Vroom and David WIlliamsonUXPA Boston
This talk explores the evolving role of AI in UX design and the ongoing debate about whether AI might replace UX professionals. The discussion will explore how AI is shaping workflows, where human skills remain essential, and how designers can adapt. Attendees will gain insights into the ways AI can enhance creativity, streamline processes, and create new challenges for UX professionals.
AI’s influence on UX is growing, from automating research analysis to generating design prototypes. While some believe AI could make most workers (including designers) obsolete, AI can also be seen as an enhancement rather than a replacement. This session, featuring two speakers, will examine both perspectives and provide practical ideas for integrating AI into design workflows, developing AI literacy, and staying adaptable as the field continues to change.
The session will include a relatively long guided Q&A and discussion section, encouraging attendees to philosophize, share reflections, and explore open-ended questions about AI’s long-term impact on the UX profession.
Slack like a pro: strategies for 10x engineering teamsNacho Cougil
You know Slack, right? It's that tool that some of us have known for the amount of "noise" it generates per second (and that many of us mute as soon as we install it 😅).
But, do you really know it? Do you know how to use it to get the most out of it? Are you sure 🤔? Are you tired of the amount of messages you have to reply to? Are you worried about the hundred conversations you have open? Or are you unaware of changes in projects relevant to your team? Would you like to automate tasks but don't know how to do so?
In this session, I'll try to share how using Slack can help you to be more productive, not only for you but for your colleagues and how that can help you to be much more efficient... and live more relaxed 😉.
If you thought that our work was based (only) on writing code, ... I'm sorry to tell you, but the truth is that it's not 😅. What's more, in the fast-paced world we live in, where so many things change at an accelerated speed, communication is key, and if you use Slack, you should learn to make the most of it.

Crazy Incentives and How They Kill Security. How Do You Turn the Wheel?Christian Folini
Everybody is driven by incentives. Good incentives persuade us to do the right thing and patch our servers. Bad incentives make us eat unhealthy food and follow stupid security practices.
There is a huge resource problem in IT, especially in the IT security industry. Therefore, you would expect people to pay attention to the existing incentives and the ones they create with their budget allocation, their awareness training, their security reports, etc.
But reality paints a different picture: Bad incentives all around! We see insane security practices eating valuable time and online training annoying corporate users.
But it's even worse. I've come across incentives that lure companies into creating bad products, and I've seen companies create products that incentivize their customers to waste their time.
It takes people like you and me to say "NO" and stand up for real security!

Challenges in Migrating Imperative Deep Learning Programs to Graph Execution:...Raffi Khatchadourian
Efficiency is essential to support responsiveness w.r.t. ever-growing datasets, especially for Deep Learning (DL) systems. DL frameworks have traditionally embraced deferred execution-style DL code that supports symbolic, graph-based Deep Neural Network (DNN) computation. While scalable, such development tends to produce DL code that is error-prone, non-intuitive, and difficult to debug. Consequently, more natural, less error-prone imperative DL frameworks encouraging eager execution have emerged at the expense of run-time performance. While hybrid approaches aim for the "best of both worlds," the challenges in applying them in the real world are largely unknown. We conduct a data-driven analysis of challenges---and resultant bugs---involved in writing reliable yet performant imperative DL code by studying 250 open-source projects, consisting of 19.7 MLOC, along with 470 and 446 manually examined code patches and bug reports, respectively. The results indicate that hybridization: (i) is prone to API misuse, (ii) can result in performance degradation---the opposite of its intention, and (iii) has limited application due to execution mode incompatibility. We put forth several recommendations, best practices, and anti-patterns for effectively hybridizing imperative DL code, potentially benefiting DL practitioners, API designers, tool developers, and educators.

DevOpsDays SLC - Platform Engineers are Product Managers.pptxJustin Reock
Platform Engineers are Product Managers: 10x Your Developer Experience
Discover how adopting this mindset can transform your platform engineering efforts into a high-impact, developer-centric initiative that empowers your teams and drives organizational success.
Platform engineering has emerged as a critical function that serves as the backbone for engineering teams, providing the tools and capabilities necessary to accelerate delivery. But to truly maximize their impact, platform engineers should embrace a product management mindset. When thinking like product managers, platform engineers better understand their internal customers' needs, prioritize features, and deliver a seamless developer experience that can 10x an engineering team’s productivity.
In this session, Justin Reock, Deputy CTO at DX (getdx.com), will demonstrate that platform engineers are, in fact, product managers for their internal developer customers. By treating the platform as an internally delivered product, and holding it to the same standard and rollout as any product, teams significantly accelerate the successful adoption of developer experience and platform engineering initiatives.
Autonomous Resource Optimization: How AI is Solving the Overprovisioning Problem
In this session, Suresh Mathew will explore how autonomous AI is revolutionizing cloud resource management for DevOps, SRE, and Platform Engineering teams.
Traditional cloud infrastructure typically suffers from significant overprovisioning—a "better safe than sorry" approach that leads to wasted resources and inflated costs. This presentation will demonstrate how AI-powered autonomous systems are eliminating this problem through continuous, real-time optimization.
Key topics include:
Why manual and rule-based optimization approaches fall short in dynamic cloud environments
How machine learning predicts workload patterns to right-size resources before they're needed
Real-world implementation strategies that don't compromise reliability or performance
Featured case study: Learn how Palo Alto Networks implemented autonomous resource optimization to save $3.5M in cloud costs while maintaining strict performance SLAs across their global security infrastructure.
Bio:
Suresh Mathew is the CEO and Founder of Sedai, an autonomous cloud management platform. Previously, as Sr. MTS Architect at PayPal, he built an AI/ML platform that autonomously resolved performance and availability issues—executing over 2 million remediations annually and becoming the only system trusted to operate independently during peak holiday traffic.
2. No-code platforms require no
programming experience, low-
code platforms require minimal
coding, while high-code
platforms require advanced
coding skills. Choose the best
for your project needs.
Introduction to
the concept
3. Low-Code Development
As the name implies, low code is all about giving
developers the chance to quickly construct apps by
fusing the finest aspects of coding and no-code.
Developers now have the option to freely customise
applications while being able to construct them
without writing a single line of code.
In addition, developers can create their own
components by utilising those from pre-existing
libraries, which allows them to express their creative
side.
4. No-Code Development
As the name implies, this strategy doesn't involve
any coding, and it is quite similar to low coding in
that regard, but with a twist. You don't need to know
how to programme or have a background in
computer science to use this trend.
With no-code development, anyone can create apps
since it provides a visual representation of the
programme and allows users to establish the logic of
the app by utilising simple language or predefined
alternatives. Or they can arrange the app's UI using
point-and-click and drag-and-drop features.
5. High-Code Development
High code is a term used to describe
conventional programming design, in which
painstakingly written solutions are created
from scratch by expert programmers.
Developers use JavaScript frameworks like
React or Angular since this technique heavily
relies on developers, and they make sure
that material is accessible through a CMS.
6. No-Code vs Low-Code vs High-Code Differences
Target Audience
Although no-code is for citizen developers
like us all who lack a technical expertise to
construct an app, the Community for low-
code is primarily composed of developers. On
the other hand, high-code development
requires qualified developers with strong
technical writing skills.
7. No-Code vs Low-Code vs High-Code Differences
Code Accessibility
As no-code is a concept, coding is not
accessible. Only a little amount of
access is permitted for coding in low
code. Coding is a requirement for high-
code development and is available to
everyone.
8. Quality Assurance
Quality control is not a concern in no-code because every code block is
already well tested. Low-code, on the other hand, requires that you test it
thoroughly on your own because there is room for customization.
To prevent quality problems, there is a thorough testing procedure for high
code.
App Complexity
In all honesty, low code is a little challenging for novice developers whereas
no code is thought of as a simple foundation to run sophisticated corporate
programmes. On the other hand, complex corporate apps can be created
quickly with high code.
9. No Code/Low Code Use Cases
#1- MVP Building
With a low- or no-code solution, you may
quickly create an app prototype and make it
available to the general public. So, it is ideal
for those who lack the time, finances, or
coding knowledge required to construct a
full programme. Low-code/no-code
solutions are also fantastic for quickly
testing and improving concepts.
10. High Code Use Cases
#1- Enterprise grade application development
High-code is the best option for you if
your programme has complicated
features, technologies, and other
functionalities.
It aids in the development of complex
apps, helping companies to find
seamless answers to their problems.
11. #2- Scalability is on your chart
Not every organisation has a set scope; instead, it evolves over time. High-
Code is your go-to platform if your company is one of those with a wider
scope to transform.
#3- Advanced features & Functionalities
With high code development, you can build
an app that is feature-rich and has advanced
functionalities.
12. Best No Code/Low Code Platforms
Best platforms for high-code development
13. Tips to Select the Right Choice for Your Project
Mission-Critical Project
Because a mission-critical app needs internal business specifics, low-code or
no-code app construction platforms are unable to manage this. For the
traditional development procedure, you must spend some time and money
here.
In a similar vein, it is preferable to choose the custom app development
process if your business roadmap will expand over time and have a lot of
features and functionalities.
14. Detect Budget Constraints
This is a very important factor to take into account. Making a prototype or a
simple app with low-code or no-code is the greatest option if you are short on
time and need to present your project or idea to the stakeholders. But, if your
company needs more features and functionalities, hiring a mobile app
developer and developing a custom app should be your first options.
Check Time-to-Market
Prototyping can be done with no-code or low-code technologies using little
money and time.
15. For small and medium-sized app requirements, low-code and no-code
development technologies are helpful. They are transforming the
process of creating apps by allowing users to do it quickly and
effectively with no or little coding knowledge.
