• Digital decoupling is a process of using new technologies, development methodologies and migration
methods (data & Application) to build systems that execute strategy on top of legacy systems.
Organizations can “decouple data and Application logic” the rapid execution of their business
strategy from the more lengthy and gradual transformation of the enterprise.
• Digital decoupling, when applied to the entire set of systems leads to Exponential IT, a scalable,
flexible and resilient architecture that gives companies the agility to continuously innovate.
• Exponential IT breaks the discontinuity cycle, the pattern that forces 92% of organizations to
undertake massive, costly it transformations at least once a decade due to technical debt.

Discover the future: Identify high impact industry and IT
trends, their potential for innovation, their timing, and their
impact on costs. In addition, assess the industry’s current level of
disruption and susceptibility to future disruption.
Be unrestrained: Apply these trends to core businesses and
new growth opportunities by envisioning the new business
models, new data storage, processes, products and services they
make possible.
Redefine success: Develop the new business strategy. Identify
pain points on data and application to be eliminated, short and

offers, the database it stores and the organizational structure that
builds and runs it.

Build the new enterprise IT: Move from interim IT to a fully
exponential architecture. Create new layers to enable more
agility and innovation and modernize the core data and systems
, while achieving the right balance of differentiation and
simplicity.
Reorganize IT work: Turn enterprise IT into a set of cross-
functional teams with end-to-end process responsibilities, led by
executive partnerships.
Continually transform: Exponential IT has no end state; it is
always evolving. Redefine strategy and reassess the IT
architecture as needed, then modify the layers and data. This
includes: upgrading or replacing systems in each layer, adding
cloud data cloud native reassessing where differentiation
matters and eliminate unnecessary customization, and
reconsidering which systems should be consolidated or

Educate on the new: understand the work required to achieve and sustain IT agility, the decoupling techniques that help organizations achieve IT agility, and that IT agility enables organizations to continuously transform their systems and data.
