How to Tutorial: Set-up a Hosted Wordpress

But in non-geek speak, it's
probably the easiest and
most powerful blogging...

…and website content
management system (or
CMS) in existence today.

Log in to your hosted
WordPress account

Just put this at the end of
your domain

To be able to access your
WordPress admin page
easily

i.e.
www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin

How to Tutorial: Set-up a Hosted Wordpress

A WordPress theme changes
the design of your website,
often including its layout.

Changing your theme
changes how your site looks
on the front-end.

i.e. what a visitor sees when
they browse to your site on
the web.

Things might start to get
confusing here…

…because there are
hundreds (thousands even)
of Themes to choose from

A rule of thumb when
choosing a Theme is…

…that it should be
responsive (desktop view,
tablet view & mobile view)

Let’s install the Radium
Theme

Type Radium in the search
field

Hover your mouse pointer
over the Radium Theme

You can either select
Preview or Install

The Radium Theme is now
installing

The theme is now activated.
Click Visit Site.

This is what the Radium
Theme looks like

Click Choose File and select
your Theme

I selected Rise (Thrive
Themes). Click Install Now

Click Activate once the
upload completes

Click Visit Site after the
Theme has been activated.

This is what the Rise theme

We have now installed a
theme in your Wordpress.

Plugins are ways to extend and add to
the functionality that already exists in
WordPress.

The core of WordPress is designed to
be lean and lightweight, to maximize
flexibility and minimize code bloat.

Plugins then offer custom functions and
features so that each user can tailor their
site to their specific needs.

You will be directed to the
Add Plugins Page

Let’s add the Yoast SEO
plugin by typing it in the
Search Field

I would highly recommend
that you install the following
plugins in your WordPress,
especially if you have an
Online Business

1. Better Analytics
2. Yoast SEO
3. Google Analytics Dashboard for WP
4. Sumome
5. Thrive Themes Plugins
6. WP Add Custom CSS
7. WP Smush
8. Any Back-up Plugin
9. Email Marketing by Drip
10. Facebook Conversion Pixel
11. Scarcity Samurai

But before we go any further,
I would just like to point out
the difference between a
Page and a Post

This is where new users
quite often gets confused –
because I got confused to.

Posts
Posts are entries listed in reverse chronological order
on the site homepage or on the posts page if you have
set one in Reading Settings. If you have created
any sticky posts, those will appear before the other
posts.
Posts can be found in the Archives, Categories,
Recent Posts, and other widgets. Posts are also
displayed in the RSS feed of the site. You can control
how many posts are displayed at a time in
the Reading Settings.

Pages
Pages are static and are not listed by date. Pages do
not use tags or categories. An About page is the
classic example. Pages can be displayed in the
sidebar using the Pages widget, and some themes
display pages in the navigation at the top of the site.

Add New Page

Type the Title of your page in
the Enter title here Field

Click Save Draft if you
haven’t finished with your
page

Click Edit to change the link
of your page

Pages screen

Select the Page that you
want to Edit

Hover the mouse pointer on
the Page and click Edit

About me page

Click Update once your done
editing the page

The process of creating a
Post and a Page is similar.

How to add Pages/ Posts in a
Menu

A Primary Menu is the main menu selected
as primary menu in the WordPress Menu
Editor. A WordPress theme may support single
or multiple navigational menus at different
locations in theme.

Navigation menus allow theme designers to
let users create custom menus of their own.
The default menu will just list current
WordPress Pages. WordPress supports
multiple menus so a theme can have support
for more than one navigational menu (e.g.
header and footer menus).

Tick the Pages you want to
add in your Menu

The pages will appear in the
Menu Structure

Tick the Posts you want to
add in your Menu

The Posts also appears in
the Menu Structure

Drag the Posts under
chosen Page

Select CND Menu under
Primary Menu

Menu Locations are now
updated

Click Visit Site to view
changes

The About Me page is now
the Static Page
