This document describes a Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA) for solving the optimal reactive power dispatch problem. The objectives are to minimize real power loss and maximize voltage stability. FPA is inspired by the pollination process of flowering plants. It is tested on the IEEE 30-bus system and shown to outperform other algorithms. The FPA approach finds control variables that reduce real power losses to 4.2445 MW while improving the voltage stability margin to 0.2455.
