BeEF (Browser Exploitation Framework) is a penetration testing tool that focuses on exploiting vulnerabilities within the web browser. It works by hooking one or more browsers and using them as entry points to launch attacks against the system from within the browser context. This allows penetration testers to assess the security of a target environment by exploiting client-side vectors rather than just focusing on the network perimeter or hardened systems. BeEF gathers information about hooked browsers and systems, performs network discovery, and has command modules for social engineering, exploits, and maintaining persistence within the browser.

They deployed Raspberry Pi nodes running Docker containers for their apps, and joined them to a Kubernetes cluster for centralized management. This allowed them to easily deploy and update apps, monitor logs, and handle disconnects - all while staying within their constraints of being behind NATs and using inexpensive hardware. OpenVPN, Ansible, Docker and Kubernetes were key tools that helped solve their challenges.

None are without a level of human oversight: in some cases the overarching rules are set by humans, in others humans rubber-stamp opaque outcomes of unfathomable systems. Can we design ways for humans and AI to work together that retain essential human autonomy and responsibility, whilst also allowing AI to work to its full potential? These choices are critical as AI is increasingly part of life or death decisions, from diagnosis in healthcare ro autonomous vehicles on highways, furthermore issues of bias and privacy challenge the fairness of society overall and personal sovereignty of our own data. This talk will build on long-term work on AI & HCI and more recent work funded by EU TANGO and SoBigData++ projects. It will discuss some of the ways HCI can help create situations where humans can work effectively alongside AI, and also where AI might help designers create more effective HCI.
