If your phone automatically connects to your car radio, or if you have a smartwatch counting your steps, congratulations! You have adopted one small piece of a very large IoT pie, even if you haven't adopted the name yet.
IoT may sound like a business buzzword, but in reality, it’s a real technological revolution that will impact everything we do. It's the next IT Tsunami of new possibility that is destined to change the face of technology, as we know it. IoT is the interconnectivity between things using wireless communication technology (each with their own unique identifiers) to connect objects, locations, animals, or people to the Internet, thus allowing for the direct transmission of and seamless sharing of data.
IoT represents a massive wave of technical innovation. Highly valuable companies will be built and new ecosystems will emerge from bridging the offline world with the online into one gigantic new network. Our limited understanding of the possibilities hinders our ability to see future applications for any new technology. Mainstream adoption of desktop computers and the Internet didn’t take hold until they became affordable and usable. When that occurred, fantastic and creative new innovation ensued. We are on the cusp of that tipping point with the Internet of Things.
IoT matters because it will create new industries, new companies, new jobs, and new economic growth. It will transform existing segments of our economy: retail, farming, industrial, logistics, cities, and the environment. It will turn your smartphone into the command center for the both digital and physical objects in your life. You will live and work smarter, not harder – and what we are seeing now is only the tip of the iceberg.

Tatsuya Sugioka, Imaging System Architect at Sony Corporation, presents the "Image Sensor Formats and Interfaces for IoT Applications" tutorial at the May 2017 Embedded Vision Summit.
Image sensors provide the essential input for embedded vision. Hence, the choice of image sensor format and interface is critical for embedded vision system developers. In this talk, Sugioka explains the capabilities, advantages and disadvantages of common image sensor formats and interfaces (for example, sub-LVDS and MIPI) through quantitative and qualitative comparisons. He also explores how different image sensor formats and interfaces support advanced features such as high dynamic range imaging.

Azure IoT Hub can be used to connect many different types of devices. At the lowest end, you can use it to connect a less than 3$ WiFi capable system on a cheap microcontroller, such as the WeMos D1 Pro and NodeMCU. In this lecture we will dive into the details of the Azure IoT hub. We will understand its service and its SDKs. We will see how we can build a WiFi capable, Arduino based, cloud controlled IoT smart switch. We will then use a cross platform Xamarin based application to activate the smart switch.

Until recently, the majority of sensor-based AI processing used vision and speech inputs. Recently, we have begun to see radar, LiDAR, event-based image sensors and other types of sensors used in new AI applications. And, increasingly, system developers are incorporating multiple, heterogeneous sensors in their designs and utilizing sensor fusion techniques to enable more robust machine perception.
In this presentation, Borkar explores some of the heterogeneous sensor combinations and sensor fusion approaches that are gaining adoption in applications such as driver assistance and mobile robots. He also shows how the Cadence Tensilica ConnX and Vision processor IP core families and their associated software tools and libraries support sensor fusion applications with high performance, efficiency and ease of development.

What if I told you that you can move from raw data collection to knowledge aggregation by implementing Artificial Intelligence into IoT systems?
During the talk, I will show the benefits of introducing AI at the earliest possible stages, applying the concept of moving from Cloud computing to Fog computing. The basic principle of constructing AIoT systems is the use of the node logic, where a node of the system has to process the provided information in a form of abstract concepts, but not in a form of raw information.
Further, the experience of one device learning and the history of its life cycle can be applied to new models, automatically programming their production cycles for the most efficient use. Actually, IoT solutions should apply AI components at each level of data transfer. Following this approach, the whole system becomes self-optimizing.
Also, during the talk, I will present related case studies and demonstrate a working stand.
