WIB-Seattle is an organization of professionals actively committed to promoting careers, leadership and entrepreneurship of women in the life sciences in Seattle, Bellevue, Bothell, and the other cities located in King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties. We are dedicated to providing education, mentoring and professional development assistance to women who are working in life sciences or in professions supportive of the life sciences, and young women and girls who are interested in science careers. Our membership consists of professionals at leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology and device companies, non-profits, academic institutions, and support service companies, including law firms, consultants and financial service firms.

Our incredible panel — featuring leaders from Talus Bioscience, Lassen Therapeutics, Deloitte, the Allen Institute, and Mirador Therapeutics — dove into the realities of inclusion in life sciences today, exploring how we can create workplaces that truly reflect belonging. 💬 We made space for the tough conversations. 💡 We tackled the current state of our industry. 🤝 We built meaningful connections that carry forward. It was an incredible opportunity to bring together students, postdocs, and industry professionals for a thoughtful conversation on how AI is reshaping the biotech landscape. Event Highlights: Panel Discussion: Moderated by Duru Tasman, a Bioengineering Ph.D. student at UW Seattle, the panel featured distinguished experts: Nermeeta Dhillon, ML/AI Scientist at Wayfinder Biosciences Jag Singh, Software Engineer at Arzeda William Fondrie, Head of Data Science and Engineering at Talus Bio Dean Pettit, UW Bioengineering Lecturer & Co-Founder of Just Biotherapeutics Key Takeaways: AI in Drug Discovery: Panelists discussed how AI accelerates drug discovery by analyzing complex biological data, leading to more efficient identification of potential therapeutic compounds. Ethical Implications: The conversation addressed the importance of ethical considerations in AI applications, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability in biotech innovations.
