💧40% of the world's population suffers from water scarcity, an alarming reality that is set to intensify in the coming years. ➡️ In the face of this emergency, reverse osmosis desalination seems to be an essential solution to combat water stress and ensure sustainable access to drinking water! SUEZ has therefore developed a 4-step process using technologies to make desalination more efficient and environmentally friendly: 🔹 Capture: controlled collection of water from the sea. The water is transported to the plant where an initial cleaning process removes major impurities. 🔹Pre-treatment: improving water quality before desalination. To prevent membrane fouling and optimise efficiency, we use our patented Seaclean® and SeaDAF® technologies. Depending on the water quality, we adjust the filtration and integrate a flotation stage to remove unwanted particles. 🔹Reverse osmosis: separating fresh water from salt Water is forced under high pressure through ultra-fine membranes that retain salt and impurities. The result is purified water, ready to be remineralised to make it drinkable. 🔹Remineralisation: enriching water to make it drinkable. Fresh water is replenished with essential minerals to ensure optimum quality for human consumption. By integrating renewable energy and energy recovery devices, we are working towards more sustainable and efficient desalination.

🚀 Innovation in progress! We're thrilled to share the ongoing development of the SUEZ ActiLayer at the Severn Trent #NetZeroHub at Strongford Wastewater Plant. This at-scale innovation trial, supported by Ofwat WBC3 Funding and Severn Trent Water, will assess the viability of ActiLayer technology to mitigate process emissions, with a specific focus on N20. Here’s an insight into what it takes to bring this project to life: ➡️ Over 185T of aluminium sections ➡️ 104,000 stainless steel fixings ➡️ 37,000 bespoke stainless-steel brackets & plates, with over 160 unique designs ➡️ 3,900 pressed aluminium pressings, with 99 unique designs ➡️ 3,400 twin-skin roof panels supported by 41T of bespoke aluminium extrusion ➡️ 10 linear kilometres of aluminium extruded walkway boards ➡️ A bespoke engineered lighting system with 1464 LED UV lamps This is a testament to the power of innovation and collaboration. We're eager to see the impact this technology will have on reducing emissions and contributing to a more sustainable future. Stay tuned for updates on this progress!

AI and smart sensors are revolutionising water management! 💧 At the World Water-Tech conference, Claire MATHIEU, SUEZ Data & AI Director, spoke on the panel 'Achieving Resilience in Water: Navigating Geopolitics, Climate and Risk'. She highlighted a key issue: 💬 “We’re lucky to work in a field where we know AI and digital technology will have a truly positive impact. Water is one of our most essential resources, and as challenges grow—whether it's increasing demand, aging infrastructure, or climate change—technology gives us powerful tools to tackle these issues in smarter, more efficient ways. ➡️ From tracking water flow, pressure, and quality in real time, utilities can detect water loss and leaks faster, ensure better water quality, and more efficient network management.” Tom Woolley CRO at Optimatics, a SUEZ Digital Solutions company, also took part in the breakout session 'Making Waves: Create real IMPACT through digital transformation'. He spoke about how SUEZ AQUADVANCED Water Supply helped a UK utility reduce energy bills and increase the network operations and resilience through automation. #DigitalSolutions #AI
