#Wastewater management represents both a crucial challenge and an opportunity for cities: as a local partner, Veolia can respond effectively to people's needs by combining our #innovation and expertise with the strategic vision of local authorities. In Boulogne-sur-mer in northern #France, the wastewater treatment plant named 'Séliane' is a state-of-the-art facility capable of treating the wastewater of the equivalent of 200,000 inhabitants. This plant is a perfect example of Veolia's commitment to the circular economy. Its sludge incinerator recycles wastewater by converting it into green #energy (biogas): this biological process is called anaerobic digestion of sewage sludge. The biogas is used to supply the local district heating grid, providing 500 homes. Long viewed as simply a nuisance, sewage sludge is actually a resource and energy source.⚡ This virtuous approach demonstrates Veolia's ability to combine technical performance with environmental responsibility! 🔗 Learn more about wastewater management: https://lnkd.in/ez8tkpU3

With the challenges of climate change, #cities are facing major climate challenges that have a direct impact on #water #management: scarcity of the resource, increased risk of flooding during heavy rainfall, coastal erosion phenomena, threat of rising sea levels… 💧 To meet these challenges, Veolia is working alongside cities around the world in the search for tomorrow's #solutions to guarantee a sustainable, accessible and resilient water resource. 🇫🇷 Zoom in on Boulogne-sur-Mer, a city in northern France that Veolia has been working with for over 140 years on sustainable water management! In Boulogne-sur-Mer, this collaboration is making it possible to better anticipate the effects of climate change through concrete actions such as: 🔷 Diversification of resources, 🔷 Ongoing network modernization, 🔷 Key infrastructures such as the Seliane wastewater treatment plant as well as a 13,000 m³ storage basin designed to prevent flooding and reduce wastewater discharges into the natural environment, 🔷 Exploring innovations such as REUT and the reduction of industrial consumption. A region at the forefront of #EcologicalTransformation! 🤝 Veolia is positioned as a local partner, engaged in constant dialogue with local elected representatives and local players to provide solutions that combine the preservation of public health, control of purchasing power and territorial resilience. 📣 Veolia launches a Tour de France for #water! The aim of this unprecedented initiative is to meet citizens, local elected representatives and industries, and to jointly develop sustainable solutions for preserving water in the face of climate change. Initiated by Estelle Brachlianoff, CEO of Veolia, this innovative project is a way of raising public awareness and fostering #dialogue on the issue of water, which has become a vital challenge and a major concern for citizens. 🇫🇷 This 'Tour de France' for water begins symbolically in Boulogne-sur-Mer, a town in northern France with which Veolia has the longest-standing collaboration in #France in the water sector, and which it supports in the search for future solutions to guarantee a sustainable, accessible and resilient water resource. The issues at stake are multiple and address a number of key challenges: 🔹Protecting public health, in particular against micropollutants and PFAS 🔹Coping with water shortages and combating water stress 🔹Managing floods 🔹Maintaining water quality at an affordable price 🔹Helping farmers and industrial companies to adapt The water crisis is real, as confirmed by a French survey conducted by the Terram Institute, which sheds light on citizens' perception of the water situation in France. However, the French have confidence in the water industry (60%), and the majority are in favor of innovative solutions to turn these challenges into opportunities. Let's all play a part in water management! 💧 #EcologicalTransformation Institut Terram Antoine Bristielle
