Periods of showers and thunderstorms will increase today from west to east and continue through the night. As low pressure shifts east across the state Friday, moderate to heavy rain showers and storms will be possible. While the system moves offshore early Saturday, lingering moisture will maintain the potential for isolated to widely scattered showers across portions of central and eastern NC through Saturday afternoon and evening.
