The European Union (EU)’s Executive Steering Group on Shortages and Safety of Medicinal Products (MSSG) took centre stage last month. Starting 2 February EU Member States are required to report critical medicine shortages to the MSSG via the European Shortages Monitoring Platform (ESMP). Thomas Thoma walked the audience at the 26th Annual Clinical Trial Supply conference in Barcelona through the MSSG solidarity mechanism and how it enables medicine sharing between EU states. #drugsupply #supplychain #drugshortage

New EU Clinical Trial Regulations simplify international trials while offering the means to counter drug shortages for trials in Europe. During a talk at the #CTS2025 conference last week, Andreas Schwinn, senior qualified person (QP) for investigational medicinal products (IMPs) at Roche, spoke about how having a consistent rule set on clinical trials in the European Union could impact the clinical trials sector. #clinicaltrials #EU #drugshortage
