Sustainable Animal and Aquatic Foods (SAAF) Yesterday, I attended a parallel session where the CGIAR Science Program SAAF was launched. This is a six-year program which seeks to transform Animal and Aquatic Food Systems for People and Planet. #CGIARScienceWeek🌍🐟🐄 The session highlighted the role of sustainable livestock and aquatic foods in ensuring nutrition, livelihoods, and ecosystem health. We explored the six interlinked areas of work around: - Productivity+, - Climate and the environment, - One Health, - Market Systems, - Policy Solutions and Scaling, - Data and Digital Solutions, and - Gender, Youth, and Social Inclusion. These will go towards driving a more food-secure future by having more efficient climate-smart animal and aquatic food systems, improved well-being of food-producing communities and better environment, and increased benefits including to women and youth. On 9th April We proudly unveiled our program at #CGIARScienceWeek. The Sustainable Animal and Aquatic Foods (SAAF) program is CGIAR answer to building animal and aquatic foods systems that are 🟢 Healthier for people 🟢 More inclusive for communities 🟢 Climate-smart for the planet Why this matters now? By 2050 we'll need to feed 10 billion people sustainably.
