During the full workflow simulation, each participant got hands-on experience by collecting and uploading data for at least four traits. The session included a review of uploaded data, followed by computing and committing the data for quality checks. To wrap it all up, participants came together for a group feedback and experience-sharing session — discussing field realities, challenges faced, how they were resolved, and key lessons learned. It’s been an enriching experience enhancing the digital capacity of breeding teams for better data and better decisions. Here’s to a future of smarter, data-driven breeding! 🌿 #DataCollection #Fieldbook #BreedingInnovation #CapacityBuilding #IITA #BrAPI #EBS #TrainingWorkshop

Hands-On Session Highlights: Participants got practical for hands-on experience in bridging data collection and breeding systems seamlessly. Coordinators guided them step-by-step through: -Installing Fieldbook on their tablets -Setting up the Breeding API (BrAPI) to connect Fieldbook with the Enterprise Breeding System (EBS) -Importing trials from EBS into Fieldbook -Collecting data and exporting it back to EBS for review, validation, and troubleshooting #BreedingTech #Fieldbook #BrAPI #EBS #DataDrivenBreeding #IITA

Participants had a great time engaging in hands-on sessions, including creating breeding trials in the EBS Demo. They also explored how to apply Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure quality assurance in plant breeding. To wrap up, the coordinators tested their knowledge with a fun and interactive quiz focused on maintaining quality and integrity in breeding—emphasizing best practices, data validation, and how data shapes critical breeding decisions. #PlantBreeding #EBS #DataDrivenBreeding #QualityAssurance #BreedingExcellence #CapacityBuilding #IITA

Participants are learning about how common mistakes occur in data collection, how to identify them and best practices to avoiding these mistakes. Mistakes like inconsistency in data collection/recording, and human errors in the field due to mislabeling of samples, memory based data entry and fatigue or distractions on the field, were identified. #FieldbookBrAPI #EBS #DigitalBreeding #BreedingInnovation #IITA #AgTech

🚨 Exciting news from #CGIARScience Week! ICARDA has launched the International Consortium for Red Palm Weevil Control (C4RPWC)—a bold, three-year global initiative to tackle one of the most devastating pests threatening palm production worldwide. 🌴🪲 Led by ICARDA and supported by key global partners, the project will develop, test, and scale sustainable RPW management solutions—starting in the UAE and expanding to low- and middle-income countries. Honored to represent #IITA_CGIAR as the lead for Workstream 2: Biotechnology Tools for RPW Control, alongside other speakers: Fatema AlMulla (UAE Presidential Court), Ruben Echeverria (Gates Foundation), Aly Abousabaa (ICARDA), Michael Baum (ICARDA), Augusto Beccera (ICARDA), Samira Faris (Icipe), Leena Tripathi (IITA), Srikanth Rupavatharam (ICRISAT), Ganga Rao (ICBA). Together, we’re building a coordinated global response to protect livelihoods and food systems. 🌍 #PestManagement #BiotechForGood #RedPalmWeevil #CGIAR #IITA #ICARDA #ICRISAT #Icipe
