In partnership with 211 LA, we’ve housed over 21,000 people, 2,300 pets, and 1,000 first responders impacted by the LA wildfires. Watch the story of Airbnb.org guest Kevin Cooley, a photographer in LA, whose family lost their home in Altadena. As we continue to support people in LA, we are extending stays for people in need who lost their homes or still cannot return. • A note from our Executive Director, Christoph Gorder, sharing an update on Airbnb.org’s work in response to the LA wildfires.

At Airbnb.org, we believe in the power of community and compassion, especially during times of crisis. Earlier this month, we partnered with 211 LA to provide free emergency housing for the thousands of Angelenos displaced by the devastating fires. I am proud to share that we have already housed over 17,000 people in Los Angeles, providing more than 63,000 nights of free stays. Our partnership with 211 LA has been instrumental in identifying those most in need, and we are dedicated to extending stays for survivors who lost their homes as they begin their journey to recovery. Together, we are working tirelessly to ensure that no family has to go through this alone. Airbnb and Airbnb.org have committed over $26 million to emergency housing efforts in Los Angeles, and we continue to refine our process to better serve those affected. Importantly, we have safeguards in place to protect against misuse of our program. That’s why credits for emergency housing expire within seven days, but if individuals reach out to our customer support team, we can extend their credits or apply them to existing stays—something we've already done for 170 households. We stand with the Los Angeles community and will continue to provide support to those who need it most. Thank you to everyone involved in this effort, especially our partners at 211 LA, for making this possible.

  • We know thousands of people are still in need of housing. That’s why with Airbnb’s support, we are expanding our response and will continue meeting the growing need for emergency housing in Los Angeles.

Today, Airbnb committed to providing free emergency housing to an additional 25,000 people who have been impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires, including survivors, evacuees, first responders, and firefighters. The team is working to connect those in need with free housing through Airbnb.org. The situation is devastating, and we’ll continue to do everything we can to support the Los Angeles community.  Help or get help at: airbnb.org/lawildfires

We are working to support Los Angeles County residents who lost their homes or had to evacuate due to the wildfires. We have partnered with 211 LA to offer emergency housing. Stays are completely free for guests and are funded by Airbnb.org and the generosity of Airbnb hosts — many of whom offer their home at a discount through Airbnb.org. • This year donors and hosts helped us provide free, emergency housing to tens of thousands of people globally. We responded to earthquakes in Japan, wildfires in Chile, floods in Brazil, hurricanes in the Southeastern US, floods in Spain, and dozens of other disasters. Thanks to our community for making this work possible. Learn more about how to get involved at airbnb.org.

  • Airbnb.org has provided access to free, temporary housing to nearly 6,000 people who either lost their homes or were forced to evacuate in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida following Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Airbnb hosts have made this possible by opening up their homes, many for free or at a discount, allowing Airbnb.org to continue to provide housing to those who need it most. You can learn more about our response below. Right now, Airbnb will match all one-time donations to Airbnb.org for Hurricanes Helene and Milton at 100% until November 1st.

  • Hurricane Helene caused devastation throughout the Southeastern US. To support relief efforts, Airbnb.org is partnering with local organizations to provide free, emergency housing to survivors, volunteers, and first responders. Learn more about how to get help and get involved below. None of this would be possible without the support of generous hosts who have opened their homes to people for free or at discount to people impacted by the storm. “It has been incredibly challenging to find safe accommodations for people displaced by the storm. I’m inspired by my fellow Airbnb hosts who immediately stepped up to support relief efforts and welcome families into their homes through Airbnb.org, which waives all fees associated with Airbnb bookings. Airbnb.org is a powerful way for hosts like myself to better serve our communities when disasters like Hurricane Helene strike.” - Danielle, Airbnb host in Tampa, Florida

🥹 Take us back!  Exactly one month ago, we were on the banks of the river Seine in Paris with the Refugee Olympic Team enjoying an evening at La Maison Airbnb on Jardins de Pont Neuf, in an event co-organised by Airbnb, Airbnb.org and the Olympic Refuge Foundation. Airbnb.org created personalized drawings of each of the 37 athletes of the Refugee Olympic Team, which were used to decorate the beautiful boat setting. ⛴️🎨 Speaking at the event, Jojo Ferris, Head of ORF said: “Much like Airbnb, the Refugee Olympic Team was born out of an idea – a different way of seeing the world. As Airbnb and the Olympic Refuge Foundation we are aligned on our values and commitment to creativity and through this shared approach of collaboration we will continue to work together to find a sense of belonging for young people affected by displacement." Airbnb and Airbnb.org support the work of the ORF having donated financially and in kind to the Foundation and allowing all 74 Refugee Athlete Scholarship-holders to benefit from the Airbnb Athlete Travel Grant. Airbnb has also supported previous members of the Refugee Olympic Team with temporary housing to allow them to pursue their education and training. 🏡✈️🎓 Thank you to Airbnb and Airbnb.org for the ongoing support and making Paris extra special for the athletes through these beautiful memories. ❤ 🎨 Designs by the talented Nathan Bell
