Why Do Some People Get It So Right, and Others Just So Wrong?
Why, indeed? We seem to spend way too much time worrying about the seemingly ever-changing rules and not enough time thinking about what’s foundationally right…shades of government…
Don’t get me wrong…Rules are important, but rules are best as a framework rather than fences; gates and walls made to be broken…Rules, strict rules, as a way of life, restrict thinking, limit free choice, as in creativity, and get in the way of advancement and unrestricted development.
If so…How do we know what's right? How do we know that we're making the right choices when we're worrying about making the wrong ones? How do we know that following the rules wouldn't be a better choice and take the chance that we'll do right???
Truth? I don't have a clue. But I do know that there is nothing more powerful than INTENT. The most potent connector of people is the sheer desire to connect, the need to be a part of a team, the aspiration for creating bigger and better together, the craving for company other than your own with a voice different from your own, and a point of view different from your own.
In my experience, little gets you to what's right better than a team and diverse voices. And nothing gets you there quicker than INTENT.
Given all of that…I will take the risk every time to connect, to seek out diverse voices, and to be part of a greater whole…so long as I see and feel the INTENT of all the players.

And, of course, I found a quote to help me make the point:
“Laws control the lesser person. Right conduct controls the greater one.” —Chinese Proverb
We need to be greater. We need to do right. We need to have INTENT. Once we have that right…the laws, the processes, and the procedures all fall into place as the guides they should be and not the collars they often become.
Think about Coach Day….see my IMAGINE. INTENT sums it all up.
Yours in INTENT. What’s your view?

1moConnections with intent. Sometimes hard, sometimes easy. However, there are people who you meet that leave an impression that sticks with you for years and years.

1moLove the perspective on intent and diverse voices, especially those of marginalized groups in decision making.
What I miss the most, when I’m not actively producing (tv/film), is the connection to the over 100 crew, that’s made up of actors and creative technicians. Of course, we all have different perspectives, but our combined “intent”, is to contribute to the creation, of what is the best possible and that’s what drives us.
