when will be the sea freight come back to reasonable?

When we look back,That was the "largest" bankruptcy in the history of the shipping industry.

In 2016, Hanjin suddenly announced that it had filed for bankruptcy protection, which caught all foreign traders by surprise. At that time, how many people consulted on the forum: "What should I do if the cargo is dumped at Port XX when we walked on Hanjin's ship?"

It is said that this unexpected situation has affected 50% of freight forwarders and shippers worldwide, and it can be said to be one of the most important events in the foreign trade circle that year.

Beginning in 2015, shipping companies have tasted bitter fruits and bleak business operations, while export companies have enjoyed relatively low freight rates in the "in-roll" of shipping companies.

However, Feng Shui turns around.

The epidemic disrupted the supply chain, and global trade demand began to recover explosively in the second half of 2020.

In 2021, the shipping industry ushered in the most brilliant harvest in the past 10 years, and even made 10 years of profits within a year. There is a story that the leading shipping company swipes a 10-month monthly salary as a bonus; on the other hand, export companies are desperately scouring the boxes.

After the reversal of supply and demand, the state of existence has also reversed.

But again, Feng Shui will take turns.

While shipping companies are raising prices, they have begun to embark on the old path of crazy shipbuilding. In the first eight months of 2021, global orders for new ships soared by nearly 300%. But at the same time, shipping companies seem to understand that "killing chickens and getting eggs is not a long-term solution."

On September 9th, French shipping company CMA CGM took the lead in announcing the "freezing rise" and halting all spot freight rate increases for all its brands (CMA CGM, CNC, Containerships, Mercosul, ANL, APL). This measure will start from 2021. Effective immediately from September 9th, until February 1, 2022

Subsequently, shipping giants Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk followed up, expressing "hope that the maritime market will calm down" and "our focus is to create long-term value for customers."

From an economic point of view, the shipping cycle can be divided into four stages: recovery, prosperity, recession, and depression. Its cycle is not invisible. The global trade environment is the dominant factor affecting the shipping cycle..
