What a year!

Last Wednesday culminated the wrap-up ceremony of the TD Vismin-World Skills mentorship program. Now on it’s 8th year, the mentorship program continuous to deliver employment related successes as well as in impacting the lives of both mentees and mentors. For TD Vismin and World Skills, the continuous success and popularity meant a lot more as the story goes back to when it was conceived and designed 8 years ago by a TD employee who accessed the service of World Skills as a newcomer and a visionary World Skills staff! Both believed in what the mentorship program could accomplished for both organizations and to the community!

This year’s result was phenomenal and we seemed to outdo and outgrow ourselves every year ! We had interviewed 85 candidates from World Skills and had successfully matched 32 mentees with mentors from TD. Within the 3 months time frame of the mentorship, 14 already found employment of which 8 mentorship participants were hired within TD.

In light of this I can't help but appreciate and highlight some key people that I worked with who had made the running of the mentorship so seamless. The TD team lead by Mayank Sharma with Shruti Sharma, Nari Muk and Mejailo - you guys are amazing in what you do! TD Mentors who brightly shine in what they do -Marc Gauthier, Debjani Chakravarty and Ajitpal Bhuller , respect and admiration is what I hear from the mentees you had worked with! Special thanks to our volunteer for this term here at World Skills Nigel Pequette who assisted as well as captured every moment me in every touch point activity of mentorship, #Shaye who helped in interviewing the first wave of applicants, Atoosa in facilitating the famous Interview Roulette, Chris and Doug who are always available to help with the bits and pieces needed and to Magdalene and Mengis for all the guidance and direction provided during the process.
