Victory in the Holy - Part 3
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:57
The past two thoughts focused on how victory in the Holy assists us to prepare for the end-of-life experience. Now, let us reflect on how this victory in the Holy helps us live our daily lives. For, victory (winning) is an important value in our culture, but what does this look like in the Holy.
Victory in the Holy:
· calls us to: “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” (Matthew 5:43-44)
· implores us to: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Matthew 22:36-39)
· will demonstrate compassion: “For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited me in; I needed clothes, and you clothed me; I was sick, and you looked after me; I was in prison, and you came to visit me.” (Matthew 25:34-36)
· recognizes that: “The greatest among you will be your servant.” (Matthew 23:11)
· maintains a humble and opposite cultural perspective: “But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.” (Matthew 19:30)
These are just a few living examples of what it means to live in the Holy. What have you found in life that demonstrates victory in the Holy?
