This October, become an open source contributor

Ever wondered how you could make the world a better place by sitting in the comfort of your laptop/desktop/smartphone? Well, contributing to open source is one way of accomplishing that.

Wait! open source? That place where all geeky coders spend time writing code for somebody else? If you are thinking along those lines it's better that you get your perception about open source refreshed.

Open source is not just a place for programmers. If you know a language well you can contribute to documentation, if you are an artist try creating a logo or a mascot for one of the thousands of projects out there or if you want to code but don't want to start off with something complex there are projects like JARVIS and Cosmos where you can contribute simple things and get the happiness of being a FOSS contributor

But, if you're like me, you're still a bit unsure. That's where hacktoberfest comes in. DigitalOcean will give you a limited edition t-shirt if you complete 4 pull requests by October 31. cool right? You also get cool github (and other) stickers!

So are you ready to take the plunge? Go ahead, register and have a hacky october :)

PS: You can check how you are progressing using this cool website which is also open source. And as for me I have raised the magical 4 requests.

Feel free to comment if you've started your journey too!
