Inheriting Blockchain Mechanism To Education Technology

"Whereas most technologies tend to automate workers on the periphery doing menial tasks, blockchains automate away the center. Instead of putting the taxi driver out of a job, blockchain puts Uber out of a job and lets the taxi drivers work with the customer directly." Blockchain is the new revolution after Information Technology. A Blockchain is essentially a digital ledger of transactions that is distributed across the network of computer systems. And it is also used by boarding schools in Dehradun to make learning experience well. It’s a technique of instantaneous end-to-end transactions without intermediaries’ assistance. The technology is a high relief for companies and influential individuals, which allows them to make secure transactions and keeps a record of past events. The core technology was proposed by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008.

FEATURES

Presently blockchain is used in many sectors and is precisely being used in Cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Libra, Zcash and Ethereum. The best use is made in the financial field and the technology sector due to its following features :

  • Decentralization
  • Traceability
  • Immutability
  • Currency properties
  • Security

Inheriting Blockchain in Education Field

Inheriting Blockchain is a new way to organize and utilize students and educational institutes like girls boarding school in Dehradun, data online, providing them with a sense of ownership, security, ease of access, and immutability – and it just may take over the way we store education data in the future. Student’s records, such as their marks, assessment scores, attendance sheets, payments, and other data management works involve security and authority of data, and the Blockchain technology can be handy at such crucial stages. Since these are personal records of students that need to be secured and shouldn’t be deleted, the Blockchain is the only resource which offers reliability and is immutable. The transparency of students’ degrees can be verified through blockchain, and it will reduce the degree of fraud in the educational system. By implementing the Blockchain technology in colleges, the student’s data can be stored, checked and validated through any platform from any part of the world. Thus, the professional degree becomes a verifiable and authorized certificate. This helps in reducing degree fraud and fake degree holders. Furthermore, the primary beneficiaries of adopting blockchain-based technologies in education are likely to be networks of educational organizations and learners implementing this tech in the near future.

MERITS

Reliability: Blockchain is of decentralized nature and keeps the database record secured through its ledgers maintained by tons of nodes, meaning a single node failure will not affect the whole system. This avoids the single point of failure and ensures the high reliability of the applications built on blockchain technology.

Trustworthy: The end-to-end encryption which ensures the data and transaction safety and also avoids third party influences. Such properties make blockchain a dependable technology that can be used in any field.

Security: Blockchain technology uses the one-way hash function, which makes one-to-one interaction without a third party’s involvement, which degrades the chances of hack or misuse of data.

Efficiency: Blockchain services are automatic and run on the pre-set procedures and algorithms set inside it. Due to such automation, its efficiency increases significantly and also reduces human labor and is cost-effective too.

Adaptive in Diverse sectors: The technology is not explicitly designed for a particular field, but is a multi-diverse sector and is in demand in every significant industry: banking, education, online transactions, commerce, finance and many more.

DEMERITS

Technology is the invention to reduce human effort and increase efficiency and accuracy, but it is undeniable that they have some drawbacks that can’t be overlooked. Some of the threats to the use of blockchain technology in education are-

  • Blockchain is a complex system, and the institute’s data and records will be integrated into blockchain ledgers which sometime may not allow modifying or rectifying human mistakes.
  • Many other technical issues and barriers that are still not solved may cause a halt in the progress or fetch a technical glitch in schools data.
  • Learning and implementing issues may occur.

CONCLUSION

Blockchain is a new technology and is in high demand due to its ardent usage and beneficial properties. Currency property has the potential to innovate many uses in the educational sector. But the requirements and supply have a large gap which needs to be fulfilled, and the government should take the initiative to utilize the beneficiary of such technological advancements in education for the growth of students. Apart from that, an eye should be kept on the issues and technical glitches, leading to data loss in the future. However, a few types of research have been conducted. “The application of Blockchain technology is rapidly becoming a core component of our infrastructure!”
