Inheriting Blockchain mechanism to Education Technology

The learning process has developed through time. The fundamental shift that technology has brought to the process of learning is increased structure and activity-based learning. It has become both a requirement and a demand to preserve detailed records of learning programs so that they may be referred to at any time. Furthermore, it necessitates a secure protocol that is reliable, accessible, less susceptible and requires little to no intermediary interaction. Blockchain technology has the potential to significantly alter the education sector.

Most people link blockchain with cryptocurrency like Bitcoin. Data submitted on a blockchain is kept in blocks that are linked together in chronological sequence, making it very straightforward to trace the data's origins and verify its legitimacy.

These characteristics, together with the technology's decentralized structure, have led to its adoption across a variety of businesses, most notably the financial industry. According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), global investment in blockchain technology across all industries will increase from more than $4 billion in 2020 to more than $14 billion by 2023.

Education is one field where blockchain is just getting started. The application of blockchain in education is still in its early stages, with only a few institutions embracing the technology. According to a Gartner poll conducted in 2019, just 2% of higher education institutions were employing blockchain, with another 18% planning to do so over the next two years.

Blockchain technology is a framework that maintains public transactional information, also known as blocks, in many databases connected by peer-to-peer nodes in a network. This type of storage is sometimes referred to as a 'digital ledger.'

Every transaction in this ledger is approved by the owner's digital signature, which authenticates the transaction and prevents it from being tampered with. As a result, the information contained in the digital ledger is extremely safe.

In a nutshell, the digital ledger is similar to a Google spreadsheet shared across several computers on a network, where transactional data are recorded based on real purchases. The intriguing aspect is that everyone can view the data, but they cannot modify it.

Inheriting Blockchain is a new approach to gather and use information online for students and educational institutions, giving them a feeling of ownership, security, ease of access, and immutability - and it may soon take over the way we keep education data.

Student records, such as grades, assessment scores, attendance sheets, payments, and other data management tasks, require data security and authority, and Blockchain technology might be useful at such critical phases. Because these are students' personal records that must be safeguarded and cannot be removed, Blockchain is the only resource that provides dependability and is immutable.

Blockchain-based university diplomas are virtual transcripts or recordings of all educational achievements earned throughout the course of a person's life. This is the most significant advantage of Blockchain in education. This changeable transcript, which has a lifetime value, decreases CV fraud and the overhead associated with credential verification in all industries.

Degrees and certificates are not simply restricted to student records. You may have many more talents, such as numerous languages, soft skills, technical expertise, or any unique ability that you may store in Blockchain and subsequently offer a link to demonstrate your credentials. Because these abilities are difficult to check, the Blockchain recordings of them are unquestionable. Open Badge Passport services are the first step in this route.

CONCLUSION: Blockchain is a new technology that is gaining popularity owing to its widespread use and positive qualities. Currency property has the potential to invent numerous new applications in the educational sector. However, there is a big gap between the demand and the supply that must be addressed, and the government should take the initiative to employ the beneficiaries of such technical breakthroughs in education for the progress of pupils.
