How can I switch from my product support to development having 3 years experience?
Hey ,
Exactly the same thing is happening with my best friend. He works with BSNL as a onsite engineer in a private company. He is having 4 yrs of experience and salary around 4 lakhs.
Now, he comes to me from past 3 yrs or even before and outburst his frustration with me about his boss and the company and his manager. He is always not at all happy and tell me that Production support is really a nightmare for him, not because it’s a challenging job but because he has be always online and even on vacation he needs to attend emails and resolve issues.
I always told him to learn something. I offered him to learn from me and told him that without doing something, nothing is going to happen. He listen to me as he trust me, but some days later, he quits. It happens every time.
Now again is learning with me, again he has quit but this time I am persuading him and giving him confidence that to trust me completely. I know him from last 13 yrs, so somethings of him I know better than he knows.
Now this is not his or any other guy story. This is almost every body story. Even to many extent, mine. We start something just by the stimulus around us. And then we quit if we find it harder mid way. I used to teach Data Science and seen so many people just giving up.
Now what I am going to tell is a best kept secret which rich guys hide from you. Why? Well if you become rich who are going to work for those rich chaps!
The best kept secret is that if you want to know how things work in this world, there are only two ways-
- Work your ass off, 17 hours a day. You will know every secret of the world if you keep on doing it.
- Or just find a person, who knows the secret and learn from him/her.
Now you are here is Quora seeking guidance, so I guess you are seeking some secrets which can help you achieve your goals. Well I know many of those but I will tell you what you should know, to the point and no nonsense.
Well I am teaching that friend because I am fond of him. I has helped me as a friend and well I am doing the same. So I am doing it with a commitment and dedication.
Well I can do the same for you, but well I can’t become fond of nobody. So if need guidance from me, just let’s deal on mutually benefit scenario and I will also teach and mentor with almost the same dedication.
See, moving into development is neither too hard nor to easy. You don’t have to spend 2 yrs neither you can turn around things in 4 months. My experience says that it will take from 6 months to 1 yr to get a job depending on your skill level and caliber. Also it depends on which technology you are going to opt for.
Well I am already running my online training and mentoring where I provide training and hands on at live projects in REACTJS.
Well I have 9 yrs of experience in .NET, Python, Machine Learning and ReactJs. I can teach you anything you say. Right from front end to machine learning and NLP. But I have chosen this technology keeping lots of factors in mind.
- Front End is easier, so preferred over Java, .NET
- Lack of awareness, so very high demand
- Only one language to learn and master-JavaScript
- Higher salary
You can choose other path, but remember no body with teach you and care for your goals and need as I do. Rest you are wise enough to learn anything but I am telling you the best possible option.
So decide and let me know. Read my profile. Many answers I have written has helped a lot of people.
