THE BOLD FACE OF NETWORKING; THE INTERNET OF THINGS
The Guardian simply explains “The Internet of Things (IoT)” as connecting devices over the internet, letting them talk to us. This includes everything from cellphones, coffee makers, washing machines, headphones, lamps, wearable devices and almost anything else you can think.
IoT permits endless opportunities and connections to take place, many of which we can’t even fully understand. Practical applications of IoT technology can be found in many industries today, including agriculture, building management, healthcare, energy and transportation.
According to WhatIs.com, the concept wasn't popular until 1999, the Internet of Things has been in development for decades. For example, the first Internet Appliance was a Coke machine at Carnegie Melon University in the early 1980s. The programmers could connect to the machine over the Internet, check the status of the machine and determine whether or not there would be a cold drink awaiting them, should they decide to make the trip down to the machine.
It causes interaction between man and objects therefore proving one of the characteristics of non-living things wrong. With Internet of Things, “Anything that can be connected, will be connected”; also “Non-living things can now talk”
Imagine a life full of so many possibilities; less stress and more output; Your alarm clock wakes you up at 6 a.m. and then notifies your coffee maker to start brewing coffee for you. You are on your way to work and stuck in a heavy traffic, your car could send a text to the other party notifying them that you will be late.
It’s not hard to see how and why the IoT is such a hot topic.
“The technology practically makes everybody and everything around you SMART not dummies”. Everything works to create a fulfilling and stress free day for you..
