Hoot Your Teaching Game with Kahoot #Volume 2 Issue 1

Article content

Mrs. Joyce, a 5th-grade English teacher, has noticed that her active students seem to be losing interest during grammar lessons. Wanting to bring back their excitement, she decides to use Kahoot.

Here are five ways she can "Hoot" her learning with Kahoot

Gamify Assessments

Mrs Joyce can come up with a fun Kahoot quiz on the grammar topic to see how well her students know their stuff! Instead of a boring traditional test, this quiz is timed and encourages everyone to compete in a friendly manner for the highest scores. This way she is evaluating knowledge and at the same time making learning fun.

Host Collaborative Brainstorming Sessions

She can use the "Poll" feature on Kahoot to get her students to create sentences. The students can work in teams to create sentences and check correct sentences.

Create Icebreakers, Starters and Plenary Sessions

At the beginning of the lesson, Mrs Joyce can use Kahoot to play a fun vocabulary game as a starter or plenary.

Encourage Peer Learning

Mrs Joyce can divide the class into small teams and has them create their own Kahoot quizzes on different grammar rules. Each team plays quiz, reinforcing collaboration and peer teaching.

Track Progress

After the Kahoot game, Mrs Joyce can use the analytics feature to identify areas where students struggled. She can further create activities or follow-up lessons to address those gaps.
