The benefits of "As-a-Service" for Petabytes of UNSTRUCTURED data

WHAT DOES "AS-A-SERVICE" REALLY MEAN?

As the demands for managing massive unstructured data grow, as-a-Service platforms offer a scalable, more agile alternative to legacy systems. But what does “As-a-Service” really mean and why is it beneficial?

“As-a-Service” means that instead of buying hardware and then dealing with the day-to-day maintenance and troubleshooting of the secondary storage solution, customers pay for an all-inclusive service which alleviates management overhead. "As-a-Service" offerings take care of monitoring, diagnostics, failure management, and software updates. This is particularly valuable as data grows larger because it actually ends up saving enterprises money by lowering total cost of ownership (TCO). And unlike traditional managed services, which employed customer service teams that get expensive as data grows, As-a-Service vendors use software to provide efficient and cost-effective solutions.

Zero-Touch Infrastructure™

"As-a-Service" delivery - Customers don’t buy or manage hardware

Igneous delivers a consolidated data management solution for massive file systems that offers both the convenience of storing data in your datacenter and the option to tier to the cloud, all being remotely managed and monitored. IGNEOUS eliminates the challenge of managing disparate backup software, disk-to-disk (D2D) replication, and storage targets.

Similarities with Public Cloud but on premises

Much the way that AWS and Microsoft Azure are built around service-oriented teams, we do that same thing here at IGNEOUS. But, instead of just managing the equipment in public cloud providers captive data centers, we’re managing systems in the customers data centers. IGNEOUS will come on-site to your data center and install any necessary scale-out hardware to support your capacity needs and then remotely monitor, troubleshoot, and perform software updates on its appliances installed in the customer datacenter. Our remote management and fail-in-place architecture dramatically reduce's management overhead for enterprise IT while also reducing costs. The principle here is that our software is actually monitoring the success or failure of your backup jobs through our remote management platform running in the cloud. When exceptions are actually triggered by our proactive failure management software, our developers treat those as operational issues.

We even take away the burden of doing software updates. Just like in the public cloud, all of the software updates are automated and are non-disruptive. So we can update the software and not interrupt your backup jobs, ensuring that our entire fleet is current and maintained on the same software version, much as the hyper-scale providers do.

How Does "As-A-Service" Benefit Customers?

Data is growing quickly both in the cloud and on-premises. Unstructured file data is the largest growing segment, and businesses need data management solutions for massive unstructured data both in the cloud and on-premises. Legacy architectures will not be able to handle billions of files with petabytes of data and other modern solutions that work well with VM's or Block data, won't be able to perform and scale to handle massive Unstructured data.

IGNEOUS Zero-Touch Infrastructure enables businesses to harness the ease of management of cloud inside their datacenters. This results in business agility, reducing the time enterprise IT needs to spend on maintenance and troubleshooting and ultimately freeing up resources to devote towards business functions.

The theory look great but in real infrastructure Iive more detail is needed to see how matire this is and what this Will solve. I dont see benefits if there is already chosen for modern infra on premise with cloud characteristics.
