Ask me a11ything edition 14
Your daily spark for a more inclusive digital world. I will (try to) post a short newsletter daily with 5 short topics: A tip, a shoutout to a person, a shoutout to a tool, a quote and an idea.
✅ Tip of the Day
Anonymity as an inclusion tool:
Many digital systems are built on the assumption that people will feel safe sharing their real names, faces, or personal details. But that’s not true for everyone, especially marginalized or vulnerable groups. (LGBTQ+ users in unsupportive environments, People living under surveillance-heavy regimes, Survivors of trauma or abuse, People with stigmatized health conditions (e.g. mental health, HIV), Neurodivergent individuals who fear social judgment,Religious or ethnic minorities,Activists or whistleblowers)
Techniques we can use:
✅ Ambassador in the spotlight
Always happy to connect with those building digital experiences that are accessible and usable by the over one billion people globally with disabilities and impairments.
He's been working in digital accessibility since 2006, starting on the Royal Bank of Canada's IT Accessibility Team, where he helped shape inclusive digital practices and procurement processes. Since 2013, he's been at LinkedIn, where he currently serves as Head of Accessibility Engineering Evangelism.
Beyond his corporate work, he helped grow grassroots accessibility communities — co-founding the Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), as well as accessibility meetups and camps across North America, including Toronto, Los Angeles, Boston, and the Bay Area.
His efforts have been recognized with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, the American Foundation for the Blind’s Stephen Garff Marriott Award, and mentions from Business Insider and Concordia University for leadership in accessibility, community-building, and inclusive design.

✅ Tool of the Day
Sticking with anonymity

"If you don’t intentionally include, you will unintentionally exclude." - Joe Gerstand
✅ Idea of the day
When setting up Payload cms
with it's multi - tenant option and by using the right UI framework (like Chakra UI) it is possible to setup a headless CMS system where not only the website itself has maximum chance to be accessible but where we also have a CMS backend usable by everyone.
Made for accessibility advocates, designers, developers, and creators who care.
