#5: Get Out of Your Own Way

#5: Get Out of Your Own Way

Today, we're going to explore the art of getting out of our own way. It may sound abstract, but it's a reality we often face. We know what needs to be done, we've trained extensively, yet somehow, we manage to hinder our own progress. Our thoughts cloud our judgment, our decision-making slows down, and stress infiltrates our system. We find ourselves unable to perform at our best, and the enjoyment we seek remains elusive. Surprisingly, these limitations aren't primarily due to external factors. It's not the cards we're dealt; it's how we approach the moment that truly matters.

By becoming aware of how we obstruct our own paths, we can unravel the limitations and hurdles that hold us back. Often, these self-imposed barriers exist because, at some level, we believe they serve a purpose. However, once we raise awareness about their unhelpful nature and dysfunction, our minds naturally guide us toward removing these obstacles, enabling us to perform better and feel better. It all begins with raising awareness.

We've worked with countless individuals who genuinely believe they're doing everything right—working hard, training diligently—yet consistently find themselves getting in their own way. It manifests differently for each person, whether it's someone recovering from an injury who treats it as separate from themselves, lacking self-love and compassion, or a competitive athlete reaching critical moments in a game, whose focus shifts to what others think of them if they win. These patterns repeat themselves, hindering their performance time and again.

Your experience may have similarities or unique nuances, but the key is to start recognising how you get in your own way. So, today, I challenge you to observe yourself and reflect: Did you impede your progress unnecessarily? Did you react when patience and more information could have guided your decision? Do you know what to do in certain situations, but your mind pulls you away from being present and focused?

Make a commitment today to get out of your own way and allow yourself to excel. Embrace what you do best. It's time to break free from the shackles of self-imposed limitations.

We're excited to hear about your journey and the positive changes you'll experience along the way.

Best regards,

Cameron
