2021 Trends in eCommerce
Yesterday our team had the opportunity to sit among fellow industry leading eCommerce agencies and top tech platforms hosted by eCommerce Partnership to discuss how COVID-19 has impacted their businesses and growth strategies. Here’s our brief recap - feel free to share! (Thank you to Rachel Jacobs and Ecommerce Partnerships for hosting this amazing roundtable event!)
-It seems most eComm agencies took a hit when it came to growing their business and generating leads in 2020, but it was gratifying to see how they all also put their staff’s health first. Without our amazing staff at Roswell, we are nothing, and can’t fulfill our mission to build our merchants’ businesses.
That being said, although the initial onset of the global pandemic caused a hit on lead gen for new work for eComm agencies, it in turn amplified the importance of developing loyalty and rewards programs for their current merchants to ensure recurring revenue streams as the tidal wave towards eCommerce took place in late Q2 of 2020.
We took the baton in 2020 and ran with it, and pivoted our agency growth efforts to focus on advanced strategies for email / SMS automation & marketing along with the implementation and optimization of loyalty programs for all of our merchants. At yesterday’s roundtable, Kasia Migas at LoyalyLion shared that there is a 35% click through rate in loyalty emails compared to the standard 3% industry average. We also heard about the importance of developing an Internationalization (I18N) strategy - oddly enough Shopify announce price differentiation across countries and/or regions - see here.
Maura Woodband at Rewind enlightened the group when discussing the security and redundancy of our merchants’ Shopify sites using their platform. Not an especially sexy topic - but critical to discuss and implement. If you haven’t implemented your loyalty program yet, you’re letting your customers decide on whether to buy your product, and earn more redemption points, or bargain shop on Amazon or one of your competitors.
