Imagine navigating your day without being able to read signs, labels, or your phone. For millions of blind individuals worldwide, Braille makes this possible. Tomorrow we celebrate #WorldBrailleDay2025 and Louis Braille, who created this life-changing system at 15 years old. World Braille Day is celebrated on the 4th of January each year to raise awareness of the importance of braille as a means of communication for people who are blind. It is celebrated on the birthday of Louis Braille, the French inventor of the braille script. Braille lost his sight at age four and developed the braille code in 1824. When Braille is not available to someone who is blind, it can affect their ability to navigate public spaces, understand product labels, or access educational materials. On a broader scale, it impacts their ability to live independently and restricts access to academic and employment opportunities (this is a consequence of the lack of resources that organisations may provide, not an individual’s inability to see). Society is designed from ableist perspectives, and this difficults the day-to-day living for millions of people worldwide. #WorldBrailleDay #Accessibility #Inclusive

This is the take. Simon is right. Please do read it. And do consider its implications. In the #organisationdevelopment and #leadership community we of course abhor the injustices of racialisation and racism. We are, are we not, good people whose work is grounded in values and principle. This is not good enough. The dust will settle. For many, white folk, our urgency and realisation will fade. This week I have felt more keenly than ever the deep sorrow, rage and love that #antiracist work evokes in me. I must hang on to, feed, and act from and with those feelings. #OrganisationDevelopment and #Change practitioners and practice must remember and demonstrate our foundation is in social justice work. We must actively work to dismantle structural racism, show racialisation to be the heinous crime that it is, stand firm and ever strive in our commitment to equity and belonging for everyone. Not just because it is right and we are good. Because the inhumanity of this demeans and diminishes us all, including those of us who, like me, can leave the house never having to fear abuse and attack on us, or our families, because of the colour of our skin.

For the next 12 months we're celebrating 200 years of braille! We have a number of resources to help schools celebrate too, teaching children about what braille is, its history, and how it's used. #Braille200 📚 https://lnkd.in/dtJ6ZRVw [Image description: "We have braille resources for schools!" in text with a visual representation of the braille above, separated by a pink line. The text "Remember - braille is read by touch, this is just a visual representation" and the #Braille200 logo that reads "Braille 200 powered by RNIB and EBU".]

🌼 Is it time for a truce? On the daily, Burke races out the back door and to the fence, fur bristling on her neck and back, and viciously defends our yard, chastising Henry (“our” Great Blue Heron), for daring to be on OUR side of the pond. Of course, Henry squawks his retort and flies off, returning only after Burke has meandered back to her indoor retreat. But today, it looks like Henry decided he was done being bullied and bossed around by Burke. Henry was the louder of the two in their exchange today and after briefly retreating...decided he'd had enough of this. “Not today Burke!” I think I heard him say. Maybe it was Burke’s half-hearted barks. She just didn’t seem that into doing her job today. And now she’s paid the price... ...or maybe Henry realized that he's the one with the power. He's not held back by a fence. And even if he was fenced in, he could just fly away. Today, Henry finally stood his ground. And it even appears there may have been some playful, friendly repartee there at the end. Maybe we can all get along, overcome challenges, and see others in a new light. Need a new perspective? Have a great Monday!! (**Please excuse me if I don't interact much today: I'm on an airboat chasing alligators.) 🌼❣️ Have a project that requires Voice Over?
