Obviously a view onto the local broadcast, cable and IPTV channels, but this translates to linear streaming. A lot of unanswered questions here. Implication is that linear is reducing in importance, which is true.
The number of TV channels broadcasting in Italy has been steadily decreasing over the past decade, dropping from 389 in 2012 to 343 in 2022 and 316 in 2023, according to a report published by Confindustria Radio Televisioni. At the end of 2023, there were 268 nationally-produced channels, a drop of 18 per cent compared to 2012 (326 channels) and 8 per cent compared to 2022 (292 channels). This decline applies to both free-to-air (FTA) and pay-TV options. https://lnkd.in/ezGBc9Wg

Modern networks are on track to support the future of television broadcasting. In 2021, a huge fire at an Arqiva broadcast tower at Bilsden, in North Yorkshire, knocked out BBC broadcast coverage for half a million homes across the North of England. While viewers awaited repairs, data showed a significant increase in television being consumed over the internet from this region, with notable weekly spikes around the BBC News at Ten, EastEnders and MasterChef. This unexpected test has been an important marker, because, as an Ofcom report released today notes, a decade from now we could see the full retiring of traditional broadcasting, with delivery of television moving fully – or predominantly – online. Ahead of 2034, Public Service Broadcasters (PSBs) like the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 already offer services as ‘online only’ and statistics – like those released by Ofcom that show a 30% decline in broadcast consumption since 2018 – will tell you this is an inexorable shift to meet how the public choose to consume TV. #bt #btgroup #uk #ofcom #bbc #broadcasting #tv #itv

Broadcasting focuses on creative and expressive content, while telecommunication prioritizes infrastructure and technical regulation. When Technology has its day ( maybe months or years) and the world is not bedazzled by it anymore, it would be only , I repeat, only content that will matter. The word of mouth has changed shape in the past and it continues to change to carry it (broadcast) the "Word" .
The broadcasting industry has voiced strong opposition to the inclusion of broadcasting services under the Telecommunications Act, 2023. During an Open House Discussion (OHD) organized by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) yesterday, industry stakeholders, including broadcasters, service providers, and associations, expressed concerns about the potential implications of such a move, The Economic Times reported...
