Ask the Doctor: An ASEA series Donnellyn Dominguez, a midwife of 16 years, owned and operated one of the largest birthing centers in the state of Texas and has attended the births of more than 1,000 babies. ASEA came into her life in December of 2017. Donnellyn began recommending redox to her clients after experiencing significant health benefits.. Work is nearly complete on the conversion of five units in Freshney Place to a bespoke Community Diagnostic Centre that will help to transform healthcare in North East Lincolnshire. Once complete, the centre will allow us to offer more than 150,000 additional diagnostic appointments a year to patients at a convenient, central location, rather than travelling to one of our hospital sites. Due to open to patients in the coming months, a range of services will be on offer, including ophthalmology, non-obstetric ultrasounds and a mix of pathological and physiological tests, such as ECGs and X Rays. GPs will be able to refer patients to a centre, which are not only more convenient for patients but are also more efficient for staff and free up clinicians’ time to help further cut NHS waiting lists. #Team PICU #Team Peerless A 9-month-old baby was admitted with a diagnosis of failure to thrive, having experienced no weight gain over the past six months. The baby was admitted under the care of Dr. Saheli Dasgupta, Incharge PICU Peerless Hospital & B K Roy Research Center .As part of the diagnostic workup, an echocardiography was performed, revealing a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), a condition where a hole persists between the aorta and the pulmonary artery. This congenital heart defect can lead to poor weight gain and other complications if left untreated. With the assistance of an interventional cardiologist, a PDA device closure was successfully performed. This minimally invasive procedure involved placing a device to close the hole in the heart, thereby correcting the abnormal blood flow. The procedure was a success, and the baby showed significant improvement, allowing for discharge the following day. This case underscores the importance of conducting a thorough echocardiographic evaluation in children who present with failure to gain weight, even if clinical examination appears normal. Undiagnosed congenital heart defects like PDA can often be the underlying cause of such growth issues. Early detection through echocardiography enables timely intervention, significantly improving the child's prognosis and overall health. This approach emphasizes the necessity of considering cardiac evaluations in the differential diagnosis of failure to thrive in pediatric patients.
