It’s an honor to support North Texas Food Bank and its mission to fight hunger in our neighborhoods. In North Texas, 1 in 8 individuals face food insecurity, including 286,860 children who aren’t sure where their next meal will come from. Recently 30 of our team members worked together to sort, bag, and box thousands of meals that will be distributed to partner agencies across North Texas, helping ensure children in our community have access to nutritious meals this holiday season.

I live in Arlington, Virginia. It’s a place that's rich in diversity, food, and greenery. It’s also affected by food insecurity, with more than 23,000 people (nearly 10% of the population) not having access to enough food for an active, healthy life. These are just some of the eye-opening facts released this week as part of Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap Study (https://lnkd.in/ep7JimvB) —an annual, comprehensive view of how food insecurity varies across the U.S. As the only national study to provide county-level estimates of food insecurity and food costs, this study is a powerful tool for all of us to use to better understand hunger in our communities. It shows that food insecurity exists in every county, parish and congressional district in this nation, but it isn’t experienced equally. Food insecurity levels vary across regions, influenced by factors like unemployment and poverty rates as well as policies and practices rooted in history that continue to hold people back today. I encourage you to learn about the impact of hunger in your community. Spark conversations around the systemic factors that drive food insecurity then join the movement to end hunger (https://lnkd.in/enR6y7VC). Help us create a future where we all have access to the food and resources we need to thrive. #EndHunger

One Meal, One Moment of Hope Hunger doesn’t always scream; sometimes, it sits quietly, waiting. During one of our Mobile Food Outreach initiatives, we met a vulcanizer sitting by the roadside. He hadn’t eaten all day, and no one had come by for his services. His tools were there, ready for work, but his energy was fading. In that moment, we offered him a token—a simple gesture that opened the door to something life-changing. He took it to the restaurant we had partnered with and received a hot, nourishing plate of food. For him, it wasn’t just a meal. It was strength to keep going, hope for the day, and a reminder that someone cared. This is what we do. At TEK foundation we’re committed to ensuring that hunger doesn’t stop anyone from living, working, or thriving. Through partnerships with local restaurants, we’re reaching those who need it most—wherever they are, without judgment. One meal may seem small, but for someone like the vulcanizer, it’s everything. Together, we can do more. 👉 Partner with us to make a difference. 👉 Support our mission to fight hunger. 👉 Share your own story or ideas about tackling food insecurity. Every act of kindness counts. Let’s bring hope to more people, one plate at a time.

Yesterday, the Greater Chicagoland Area Food Banks - Northern Illinois Food Bank, Greater Chicago Food Depository and the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana - released a "Greater Chicagoland Hunger Report" to help raise awareness about the rise of food insecurity, the need for more community support and resources for families. The rise in food insecurity is not an urban, rural or suburban issue. We are seeing it across the board at all three Food Banks so we're joining together to ensure families have access to the nutritious food they need to thrive. ➡️ Read the full report: https://lnkd.in/gKS43fyW

The level of food insecurity in New York City has increased significantly since the beginning of the pandemic. According to an analysis by Feeding America, the number of New York City residents struggling with food insecurity has risen by 36% overall and by 46% among children. We are grateful to our grantee partner City Harvest for responding to the crisis. They have rescued more than 1 billion pounds of nutritious food that would otherwise go to waste—working with restaurants, wholesalers, grocery stores, farms, and other partners— to distribute that food to individuals and families in need. Did you know that 117,120 (1 in 6) children are food insecure in the 26 counties served by the St. Louis Area Foodbank. That is equivalent to the total number of students in the following districts: St. Louis Public Schools, Rockwood, Wentzville, Francis Howell, Fort Zumwalt, Parkway, Edwardsville, and Collinsville, combined. Think about that - as we get ready to have our children, our future, out on summer vacation. We talk about food insecurity at the St. Louis Area Foodbank and think it's important to add some data to our discussions, thanks to Feeding America and their annual "Map the Meal Gap" study to shed light on the real needs of families across the bi-state region, and our country. We need to do better as a region - and we need your help.
