Each year Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap highlights food insecurity across every U.S. county—including our own. We are waiting to see how this year's updated numbers compare to last year's data which indicated that 1 in 7 people and 1 in 6 children in the 26 counties served by the St. Louis Area Foodbank face food insecurity. Okay, friends, let's talk real talk for a sec. We all know how expensive groceries are getting, right? It's tough out there! That's why St. Louis Area Foodbank is committed to nourishing our community with programs like Food on the Move! 🚐🍎 Imagine a grocery store on wheels rolling right into your neighborhood. For many of our neighbors who struggle with transportation or live far from stores, this is a GAME CHANGER. It means they can keep their fridges and pantries stocked while still paying for the essentials like rent and utilities. 💡🏠 At a recent distribution event, we spoke with Nancy, who visits Food on the Move. She's got a lot of growing, hungry teenagers at home (can anyone else relate?!). She told us, "It takes so much to feed a house full of teenagers. We work hard to get what we have, but it’s not always enough. My son’s family had to start limiting how much everyone could eat, which was so hard. They are growing kids, and they need the food." Nancy's been using the Foodbank's distributions for a year and a half to make sure her family has enough nutritious food. It takes some of the stress away and lets her grandkids focus on school instead of their rumbling tummies. 📚🍎 No one should have to tell their kids they can't eat as much as they need. This is why programs like Food on the Move are so important! And guess what?
