20th May is Clinical Trials Day hosted by the ACRP - Association of Clinical Research Professionals Clinical Trials Day is held on the 20th May every year to commemorate the day Dr. James Lind began the first controlled clinical trial back in 1747! Dr. Lind was working as a ship’s surgeon and was horrified at the high mortality rate of scurvy among sailors. He divided a group of those with scurvy and had each follow a particular regimen. He determined oranges and lemons (sources of vitamin C) gave the best result and the rest as they say, is history…! At The Salve and as part of our commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality - we continue to highlight sex and gender in clinical research. On Clinical Trials Day our #MedComms reading list for you is: 👥Read and implement the SAGER (Sex and Gender Equity in Research) guidelines, ensuring they’re part of your agency publication guidelines check list and TRAILBLAZE for your clients towards gender equity in research! 👥Read the Women in Pharma (WiP) #BeyondBikiniMedicine White Paper and Manifesto. The Salve supported the writing of the manifesto and it’s jam-packed with (not-always-so-fun) facts. This is a must-read for anyone who cares about making medicine work better for women AND for men and it has eight actionable steps to enable everyone to TRAILBLAZE their way toward equity in research! Do drop us a message if you’d like to explore how to ensure that health equity is a core facet of your strategic medical plan. . . . #ClinicalTrialsDay #Data #MedicalAffairs #ClinicalResearch #HealthEquity
