Tandem PV’s Post

RIP to America's solar president. What we just learned: President Carter started the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the Solar Energy Research Institute, which later became National Renewable Energy Laboratory. We like to think he would have championed #perovskite, too.

"There is no longer any question that solar energy is both feasible & also cost-effective...Solar energy will not pollute our air or water...No one can ever embargo the Sun or interrupt its delivery to us. But we must work together to turn our vision and our dream into a solar reality" -President Carter President Carter started the Department of Energy and started the Solar Energy Research Institute (which later became NREL). President Carter put solar panels on the West Wing in 1979 to heat hot water. Today we are reaping the rewards of cheap solar, wind, and batteries because of the investments in energy R&D President Carter made. Rest In Peace.
