6 babies are delivered, 60 patients are admitted, and 260 emergency room visits occur every minute in American hospitals. It takes nearly half of our healthcare workforce to support our 6,200 hospitals. Datavant joins the American Hospital Association in celebrating National Hospital Week! But we're not just celebrating. We're building secure, quality-controlled, technology-driven workflows designed to reduce the administrative burden of managing all 130 million annual emergency room visits and 33.6 million annual hospital admissions. Behind our technology is our commitment to interoperability in healthcare: getting all of that hospital data from where it sits to where it needs to be to support critical decision making and efficient workflows. Looking for a primer on interoperability? Check out our blog that breaks down interoperability in healthcare: https://hubs.ly/Q02w-ZR30 #datalogistics #WeAreHealthCare #NationalHospitalWeek

🌐 The Benefits of Virtual Wards: Revolutionizing Healthcare Delivery 🌐 The virtual ward model is gaining strong clinical support, backed by growing evidence that highlights its benefits for patients, healthcare systems, and staff alike. 🔹 Preventing Hospital Admissions: Virtual wards provide timely, consultant-led multidisciplinary care, significantly reducing hospital admissions and emergency department visits. This approach has proven effective across various patient groups, including children and the elderly. 🔹 Shorter Hospital Stays: For conditions like COPD and heart failure, step-down virtual wards reduce hospital stays, enabling patients to recover comfortably at home. 🔹 Real Impact: In South East England, over 9,000 hospital admissions were avoided in just one year, showcasing the scalability and impact of this model. Virtual wards are transforming healthcare by enhancing patient care and easing the burden on hospitals. Let’s continue driving innovation in healthcare! 💡 #HealthcareInnovation #VirtualWards #PatientCare #HealthTech #HealthcareTransformation

DYK?: Critical care hospitals like Vibra Specialty Hospital of Portland play a key role in our local healthcare community. 🏥 A critical care hospital is a type of specialty hospital that provides care for individuals suffering from critical and chronic medical issues. These patients often arrive on a ventilator and require an extended hospital stay, which is why they are sometimes called a "long-term acute care hospital" -- but don't let the name fool you: this name simply contrasts the length of stay against a general hospital. 24% of patients who die in the hospital or are transferred to the ICU suffer a diagnostic error. The Institute for Healthcare Quality, Safety and Efficiency received a two-year grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation to develop a Diagnostic Excellence Capacity Building Program. As part of the Achieving Diagnostic Excellence through Prevention and Teamwork (ADEPT) collaborative, the IHQSE will use the grant funds to create a model for developing and implementing diagnostic excellence programs at 15 hospitals across the country. IHQSE Director, Jeffrey Glasheen, MD, discusses the new grant and how it will support efforts to address and improve diagnostic accuracy across the country. Plymouth Pilot Launches to Give Patients X-rays Through Car Service Love this story coming out of Plymouth. The University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust has launched a pilot project to offer X-ray services directly to frail and vulnerable patients in their homes using a dedicated car service. Starting on 30 October 2024, this innovative 12-month trial will see a car fitted with a full X-ray kit, staffed by specialist radiographers and imaging healthcare assistants, drive around the local area with the aim to support patients who have fallen and might have fractures, reducing unnecessary admissions to the emergency department. This approach is expected to free up beds and reduce the strain on hospital resources significantly. The project is aiming to respond to three to five patients a day, doesn't sound a lot but imagine the savings on ambulances time to handle the more critical emergencies if this was adopted by all hospitals! Additionally, the benefit to patients is immense of course, instead of going through the potentially stressful and lengthy process of hospital admissions, they can receive timely/accurate diagnoses right at home, improving their recovery and overall experience. This project epitomises the potential of leveraging technology and targeted services to enhance patient care, improve health outcomes and save the NHS cash. #socialcare #healthcare#digitalhealth#NHS
