When I joined Grace & Green in 2022 as Head of Growth, my very first presentation to the Board was about how we took what had been created in Period Dignity and use this to have a much wider impact on both the business and the world of work. How would we make Period Dignity the market leader (with very little money to spend to do so)?
I don't have enough space in this post to work through exactly what I set out in that meeting, however it boiled down to:
✌ Understanding the impact we want to have: It's always been about more than supplying products - Education is woven into the threads of Period Dignity.
To achieve period dignity we need access to information, availability of products and acceptance within workplace culture - we designed our offering and continue to develop everything we do around these pillars. This was summed up perfectly by a client (John) who said "Grace & Green don't just supply a product, they create a CULTURE". Exactly John.
✌ Remember who we are and why we are doing it: Unsurprisingly, the workplace space has and is becoming more competitive. This is excellent news, as more businesses embrace free period care as a basic right, and especially comforting how many are choosing a more sustainable providers. As now Chief Commercial Officer, it's also mildly stressful (mildly 🙃 ).
However, dignity continues to be about more than avoiding getting caught short, it's about embracing inclusivity and supporting our Members to deliver dignity for all, no matter of age, gender identity, or how they experience their period. There's still a long way to go, and we've got SO much more coming here...
✌ Treat every customer like they are absolutely making our day. This is perhaps a small business mindset, or when many of the team have done almost every job in the company. We all remember the THRILL of winning our first big contract, the DELIGHT of walking into a shop and seeing our products on shelf, or randomly walking into the bathroom BEAMING seeing our products. We don't take for granted the fact we get to be in people's everyday.
(For me this has never worn off, my heart still skips a little when I process an order, receive a tender award notice, or see a customer talking about us on socials.)
Particularly grateful for our team for supporting our phenomenal YOY 120% growth, for challenging, pushing our vision and positioning, and for being excellent.
I'm incredibly proud of what we and our members are doing to drive inclusivity, awareness and dignity within their workplaces and educational establishments. I can't wait to see what the next two years can hold.
Happy Birthday Period Dignity. x
Two years of Period Dignity 🎉
It's #WorldMenstrualHygieneDay and we're celebrating two years of making periods dignified and accessible for everyone.
Since launching, our Period Dignity scheme has helped over 400 businesses, schools and public institutions provide sustainable period products to those who need them most.
Together we've:
❋ Supplied 9 million free-to-access sustainable period products
❋ Delivered 9,800+ free period packs to those who need them in partnership with local councils
❋ Stocked 60+ universities and schools with Grace & Green products
❋ Donated £97,000 worth of period products to charitable organisations, including local food banks, in 2023 alone.
Thank you to our community and incredible partners and supporters for making helping us make a difference.
Check out our visits to New Cut Coffee, BIMM University, OVO, Watershed, and Wiper and True. Thank you Honeywell Bakes for our beautiful birthday biscuits.
If you are wondering what kind of impact your business can have for a not for profit organization, check this out.
This is the third year in a row that this local business has turned over the proceeds of mulch sales for the day, totaling roughly $10,000. That kind of support is huge for Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington.
The relationship started with a #CSGW presentation where owner Marty Young was in attendance. He learned how the program worked and how it could be an impactful tool for #CommunitySafety. As a business that has been impacted by crime, he felt this was an organization that he could support.
Aligning your business with the #CrimeStoppers brand isn't just a smart move for community engagement, it can actually be a boost to your profile. Consider partnering with your local program.
Wow! Another awesome #MulchSale year in #MountForest . Thank you to Marty Young and his team at Young's Home Hardware who donated ALL proceeds from this year's sale. Here Marty, left, is joined by #CSGW Past Chair Deryck West.
Outstanding support from this community partner!
Shout out to our #Guelph partners, Andre Belisle and his team at JL's Home Hardware for raising $1,776 for our program during #MayMulchMonth.

I am delighted to share that CooperVision and CooperVoice – Employee Forum have completed a two-year partnership and fundraising effort for Southampton Hospitals Charity – Southampton Children Hospital. With ALL our colleagues' generous support from Delta Park, MountPark, and Brunel Way, we raised an impressive £30,000 throughout many the series of events.
The team's dedication to making a difference in the lives of children and their families was recently celebrated in a discreet manner. Representatives from CooperVoice and the Distribution & Packaging Senior Managers Andrew Hinton and Gary Lonsdale presented the cheque to Beth Head of Charity Operations.
This success is a testament to the power of collective action to create positive change and inspire others to join in the spirit of giving. I am proud to be a part of this community of caring individuals who strive to make a difference in the world.
Thank you all for the support and let's continue to work together towards achieving a positive outcome in our communities.

More non-profit groups are purchasing delicensed senior properties and converting them into settings for the public good.
This can include uses like transitional housing or alcohol/drug rehab.
For-profit sellers get an extra benefit here as they write off the difference between the appraised value and the sales price as a donation.
Because of these properties' uniqueness, appraisers often defer to a cost basis technique which creates an inflated value. This further increases the tax advantage of the perceived "donation" amount.
A recent example I came across involved an owner selling their delicensed assisted living property to a non-profit group that converted it into a transitional housing setting. Although the owner had an offer from a for-profit developer that was $200,000 higher, opting for the non-profit sale allowed them to benefit from a $2.5 million tax write-off.
Time spent on hiring is time well spent. The bonus is that hiring on Snicket takes hardly any time at all!
It's just a simple form, and wait for the candidates to apply.
Avoid big mainstream advertising fees for private businesses and even more discounted rates for charities, what is there to lose?
Use www.snicket.org to recruit!
Snicket is a not-for-profit organisation supporting the voluntary and charity sector.
"After raising $8 million to outbid a corporate investor, residents of a Cedar Falls Mobile Home Park, based in Bangor, Maine, unanimously voted to purchase their park on Saturday.
MaineHousing donated $1.1 million to the residents’ effort, while the city of Bangor donated $500,000.
'It’s wonderful. The whole thing’s been very stressful, but it’s come together, and I’m so impressed,” said Ronnie Pinkham, president of the resident cooperative that owns the park. “I’m impressed with my community.'"
CDI is honored to have been able to support the Cedar Falls community as they've navigated the new Maine law and the purchase process. Including Cedar Falls, CDI has helped residents of 62 manufactured home parks across the Northeast raise more than $308 million in capital to purchase their communities and preserved more than 6,180 units of affordable housing.
CDI will continue providing support to the Cedar Falls community, helping residents run their community together as a cooperative.

HOW DARUL INFAQ STARTED?
SERVICE TO HUMANITY IS SERVICE TO GOD
It started as a very humble desire and personal effort to serve humanity. This idea or desire is to provide groceries to households with very limited or no financial resources.
Through the generosity of a growing network of donors and volunteers, the initial effort expanded to provide groceries on a recurring basis from a few to hundreds of families. With the increase in donations and the growth of the recipients of monthly groceries, it became imperative that a non-profit organization to be formed. Hence, Darul Infaq Foundation USA was formed and registered with the Secretary of State, Illinois and with IRS in October 5, 2021 as a non-profit - Tax Exempt organization.
Darul Infaq has also expanded to offering assistance with school fees to households with very limited or no financial resources, assistance with emergency medical expenses to those in need and distributing cooked food to the homeless.
Great work team 👏
