Do you or your colleagues do Problem Based/Design Thinking, STEM with student teams? (or any form of humans working with humans?) , then I HIGHLY recommend stressing the importance of psychological safety and trust.
Don't throw your students into stressful team situations without strategies to develop common understanding, create dialogue, decision making protocols, conflict resolution protocols, group norms, agendas, etc etc etc.
Start with safety and trust, then provide multiple opportunities for repetition and practice.
When we had parents participate in a mini version to show them what thier children do, many of them said it was like thier MBA. Yepp!
It is a common and unfortunate trend in many organizations that they continue to hire and retain toxic leaders, despite the negative impact they have on the company. It seems that some companies fail to learn from their mistakes when it comes to hiring and keeping toxic leaders. Instead of prioritizing positive leadership qualities and company culture, they continue to prioritize short-term performance and results, even if it means sacrificing the long-term health of the organization.
It is crucial for companies to recognize the detrimental effects of toxic leadership and to prioritize hiring leaders who not only excel in their roles but also contribute to a positive and healthy work environment.
