Martial Arts and or Combative Arts are not determined by techniques. Several factors to think about are;1) the instructor, their training background and practice, the interaction with student, the transmission of the lessons and the practicality of the techniques, flexibility of their instruction. 2) individual, their motivation and dedication to learn & practice, open minded. These two factors are not limited to the ideas presented but are important when it comes to choosing which system to train from. Other considerations are secondary such as practicality, simplicity of execution of techniques.

Do martial arts promote violence? First, we need to look at what the word “violence” means. Then we can look at what martial arts teach, and why.
If you train to become faster and more powerful in whatever martial art you practice it will be of benefit. That’s the advantage of Wing Chun when practiced correctly. It not only gives you a comprehensive street self defense system but also trains you to move more powerfully and faster. This is achieved through a set of movement forms and most importantly the ‘state’ in which they are practiced. The state is a meditative condition which focuses on centring, presence, conscious relaxation, focus and emotional regulation.
