MY OPINION: WHY THE RSP SHOULD ELECT ITS NEW LEADER THROUGH UNANIMITY... And perhaps consider a GREAT professional, with high INTEGRITY, international EXPERIENCE that already proved what can be done, someone that happens to be a WOMAN from an INDIGENOUS community.... I have many interests, probably too many but well, politics, politics, can you imagine life without politics? Find the piece here (https://lnkd.in/dMfhYXBa)

A few moving parts here. Suggest you start first looking at the Fax News piece -https://lnkd.in/gj4SDaVP. Brian Kilmeade, Fox News was trying to push the Trump idea of putting tariffs on everything to increase US manufacturing, but turns out that Mike had a different problem. There are not enough skilled folks to do the manufacturing jobs that are already open. That is a fact whether you are building submarines or processing and manufacturing plants for anything from soup to nuts (and bolts). We have know for years that experienced welders are retiring at a very high clip - but we have continued for too long to tell our kids that college is the only way to get a good life. We have not told them about the six figure jobs - with fantastic job security and benefits - in machining, welding or technical service! But I think this oil tanker is slowly starting to turn. There are now enough young people with a college degree, a $50,000 job and $100,000 in student loan, that mainstream media is starting to take up the story and talking about the alternative. I am involved with AmSkills - a vocational school for the young as well as adults who want to get into manufacturing - as well as many other "hands on" jobs. Take a look at our website - www.amskills.org - scroll to the bottom and click on "News and Videos". More than 20 TV clips and more than 40 news articles tell the story!
“When every able bodied American is working (most for pay, some volunteer), labor participation will be at an all time high (kinda obvious, right?)! AND we’ll be well down the road to prosperity for all. Where those who are unable to work, are more than taken care of by those of us who do work. And we will need very little government involvement to take really good care of those who cannot take care of themselves. Here’s a great example of how we get there. And fyi, Mike is happy to deliver/amplify the message on any MSM outlet willing to have him on to help educate our country on huge well paying jobs, in desperate need of talent! https://lnkd.in/gj4SDaVP

This is a fantastic article outlying the over or inappropriate usage of disciplinary procedures. I know there are times when this is an absolute necessity particularly if the potential issue endangers people’s lives. But it can not and should not be a default setting. I recently dealt with several grievances and disciplinaries that resulted in sever sanctions justifiably so. However, looking from the outside I could see several missed opportunities to have taken a more supportive approach that could have prevented the harm that resulted to both the staff involved and the people they failed to support. Is there a case that some disciplinary against someone are not in fact their issue but a result of poor management and over zealous HR. Would more supportive management have recognised a potential issues sooner, been able to support development and manage the risks in a more collaborative approach. The stress of a disciplinary is incredible and can result in long term mental health needs. No wonder staff don’t believe there’s a no blame culture. Time for a rethink?
