🌎 We Collaborate to Build Global Solutions for #WomensHealth. 🤝 Leading Dutch and U.S. companies are joining forces to develop groundbreaking #diagnostic tools and treatments in gynecological #health. 👩🔬 The Dutch companies, CC Diagnostics, Predica Diagnostics BV, ViciniVax B.V. and SHE Health Clinics have formed an alliance to develop tools and procedures for early detection and proper treatment of cervical cancer. The American company, Nine Diagnostics is developing a novel proteomics and metabolomics platform for measuring treatment effectiveness and cancer disease burden such as in ovarian cancer. 🚀 The collaboration is supported by The Netherlands Innovation Network in Boston (NIN). NIN is the #science and #technology arm of the Dutch diplomatic network in the United States. The UC Davis Library's innovation initiative aims to support and expand entrepreneurship across campus by filling existing gaps in startup and innovation resources. The Library seeks to achieve this through several key strategies, including an **Event Series on Entrepreneurship:** A quarterly speaker series will feature UC Davis researchers who have transitioned their work into startups, raising awareness and fostering interest in innovation beyond academia. These events will provide practical guidance on patents, trademarks, and market research while showcasing successful entrepreneurial ventures. The initiative is designed to embed the Library into the university’s innovation ecosystem, making it a hub for entrepreneurial support and collaboration.

Day 3 at #PEGSEurope2024 in Barcelona also marks the close of a scientifically inspiring conference. I once heard that when asked how any conference was, the answer should be: “The talks were great, I learnt a lot!” At #PEGSEurope2024 this was the simple reality. Here are 6 learnings: 1)     T cell engagers (TCE) are here to stay and we Evotec are on the right path, at the right time, with our CD2 bispecific platforms. If you missed our posters, reach out to my colleagues James Hallinan or Priyanka Sahasrabudhe. 2)     Leaders in the field at J&J and AZ are spearheading new frontiers. J&J are taking the learnings from the already impressive clinical responses to bispecific CD3 TCEs in B cell hematological cancers and forging the next steps with their trispecific CD3 TCE +/- bispecific co-stimulatory engagers with the hope to extend overall response rates. AZ’s #GPS platform is turning armed tumor-infiltrating effector/memory T cells that were hitherto considered as by-stander T cells into a pool of anti-tumor effectors. This is an impressive approach to watch out for. 3)     B cells can contribute to orchestrating the anti-tumor response: Mestag are going after tertiary lymphoid structures by targeting LTBR via a bispecific. 4)     CAR-Ts engineered to produce their own IL-10 uncover almost enigmatic biology to mediate some of the most impressive pre-clinical and early clinical anti-tumor responses I have ever seen. 5)     AI/ML approaches are powerful tools for predicting and improving the biophysical properties of antibodies. Still, the experts are currently undecided whether AI/ML platforms can generate, de novo, functional target-specific antibodies. Time may tell. 6)     The now very hot ADC lane has clearly intersected with the bispecific antibody lane and new ground will be broken going forward. …And so much more…! Academic research doesn’t happen in a vacuum! Pan-regional, multidisciplinary collaborations hold huge potential for tackling health challenges. As part of The Connectivity Mix insight paper and event series, we will be discussing how to use a network approach to turn research at the interface between medicine and technology into reality.  To ensure successful translation into real-world impact, engagement with key stakeholders is essential. As Colin Watts commented at Connect: Health Tech – Live! last year: “If you’re developing technologies, you need an end-to-end pipeline with early engagement of end-users to ensure that they are actually used.” Colin is Chair of the Brain Cancer Programme at the University of Birmingham and a Clinical Lead in the EPSRC Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration (IRC) in Targeted Delivery for Hard-to-Treat Cancers. This national collaboration takes researchers from different disciplines and seeks to increase the efficacy of existing drugs and open the door for new therapeutic agents. The Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration includes regions from around the country and actively involves clinicians in the research process. Last week, Vaibhav Saini, Sr. Commercialization Manager at Northeastern University Center for Research Innovation (CRI), delivered an engaging presentation at the 2nd Annual MarketsandMarkets™ Biomarker and Companion Diagnostics Conference — East Coast Edition on June 21st. Drawing on his expertise, his talk titled "Research and Startups Combining Biomarkers, Devices, and Algorithms for Personalized Diagnosis and Intervention," showcased the latest advancements in the field. Vaibhav shared: "It was good to meet industry experts in biomarkers and CDx. During my presentation, I highlighted research by Ivanov Alexander R. on glycans, susan whitfield-gabrieli on fMRI mental health, and presented on Srinivas Sridhar' NeuroFieldz, VOC sensors being developed by Shadi Emam, Ph.D. and Zohreh Izadifar at Quarksen, and quantitative MRI by Imaginostics developed by Codi Amir Gharagouzloo, Ph.D and Valerie Gharagouzloo, with diagnostic applications in multiple diseases. Finally, it was great to mention Nikolai Slavov's single-cell proteomics advances and Abbas Yaseen's focus on functional biomarkers in Alzheimer's during the panel discussion."
