I am hiring! Would you like to work as a Physical Scientist within the Office of the Associate Director for the Natural Hazards Mission Area (NHMA)? You will get to work with all of our Hazards Programs including, Earthquake, Volcano, Landslides, Geomagnetism, Coastal and Marine, and the Global Seismic Network.
Some of your specific duties will include:
-Serving as a project chief or project member for natural hazards investigations by planning, conducting, and reporting on interpretive studies utilizing multidisciplinary physical science related data.
-Preparing reports of findings for interpretive studies summarizing the results of scientific investigations and technically reviews parts of reports prepared by project team members.
-Contributing to reports, briefings, presentations, and issue papers for the USGS Mission Areas, Bureau, Department, OMB, and Congress.
-Assisting the NHMA and its Programs with the generation of long-term strategic science plans.
-Assisting with web content delivery, response to media inquiries, planning national and international meetings pertinent to program activities and generation of information.
-Supporting the Natural Hazards Mission Area by providing guidance to USGS scientists and managers and in establishing best practices and guidelines for community engagement in USGS activities related to the hazards mission. This may include high level coordination and action on areas such as records management, the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA), the Data Tracking System (DTS), Federal Register Notices (FRNs), and Mendenhall Postdocs
