Transformation of captured carbon dioxide (CO2) into valuable carbon monoxide is no longer a Dream 🌱🏭. ArcelorMittal and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) are working with a climate tech company, D-CRBN, to trial a new technology. A pilot project has begun at ArcelorMittal's Gent, Belgium plant. This is the first industrial testing of D-CRBN’s plasma technology, making ArcelorMittal Gent the first steel plant in the world to trial the process, which has been designed to reduce CO2 emissions. This innovative process holds the potential to revolutionize steel and chemical production by reducing our carbon footprint. Let's work together to build a sustainable world! 🌍 #sustainability #greenenergy #innovation #steelindustry #carboncapture #circulareconomy

MHI and ArcelorMittal Gent have agreed to run a pilot carbon capture unit and this unit’s first stage will be to remain operational for a maximum of two years at the Gent facility. This test will be conducted in order to determine the feasibility of progress to full-scale deployment of the technology. If the technology was converted to full-scale technology, it would then have the potential to capture an excellent amount of the Gent site emissions. The article below portrays a new project which has been set up through a collaboration between two companies. The project which is currently operational is dedicated to a trial around a blast furnace and carbon capture. Interested in attending the world’s largest conference dedicated to Carbon Capture? ⚡ Press Release ⚡ World-first trial of D-CRBN’s technology to recycle CO₂ emissions from steel production begins at ArcelorMittal Belgium. D-CRBN is thrilled to announce that we are piloting at ArcelorMittal in collaboration with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI). This trial involves testing D-CRBN’s technology to convert #carbondioxide (CO₂) captured at ArcelorMittal’s #steelplant in Ghent, aiming to expand the scope of its ongoing #carboncapture pilot project with MHI. D-CRBN’s technology can #electrify and #decarbonize existing blast furnaces and significantly reduce coal use. The conversion of #CO₂ back into #CO for steel production will limit the need for green hydrogen in the future and reduce the costs of emission-free products. D-CRBN started from the bottom, and now we're here! D-CRBN was founded three years ago, emerging from a lab environment with a vision to transform and scale the CCU market. Today, we proudly announce that we are at TRL 6 and are working on our next scaling-up stage, our first commercial CO₂ recycling unit. Here's to many more milestones and continued growth! 🚀 #Pilotline #TRL6 #WorldFirst #trial #CO2recycling #CCU #SteelPlant #Belgium #Europe #CCUS #CO #carbonmonoxide #carbondioxide

The steel industry is facing a clear choice: will we drive #decarbonization, or will we remain part of the problem? For me, the answer is obvious – we must actively push the #transformation of our industry now. The role of the steel and metals sector in the global energy transition is crucial. Especially in Europe and Germany, we bear the responsibility to set new benchmarks. The technological revolution ahead is not just a challenge; it's an opportunity – one that we at SMS group are ready to seize. Green #hydrogen will play a key role in this shift. Our H2 Green Steel project in Sweden proves that climate-neutral steel production is achievable at scale today. But it's about more than just technology – it’s about rethinking entire value chains and creating a circular economy that minimizes resource use while opening up new economic opportunities. #CircularEconomy is the keyword here. The challenges are significant: high investments, complex transitions, and the need for close collaboration between industry, politics, and society. But this is exactly where we come in – with solutions that are both technologically advanced and economically viable. The projects we’re launching in Sweden, Duisburg, and beyond show that the future of steel production can be climate-neutral, sustainable, and future-proof. Thanks to Future Tech Fest, IHK Düsseldorf and Pauline Seyfert for the opportunity to discuss these critical topics.

👏 👏 👏 Graphjet Technology (NASDAQ: GTI) emphasizes its dedication to quality, safety, and environmental management by holding ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certifications. These certifications not only showcase compliance with global standards but also enhance Graphjet's standing in the industry from 2025 onwards. These proactive steps distinguish Graphjet as an industry leader, especially considering the limited number of graphite producers taking similar initiatives. 😯 In the graphite sector, particularly in China, challenges persist in meeting universal Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards. Local regulations' dominance often leads to a lack of differentiation among producers, hindering investment attraction, especially from ESG-focused investors. 😮 Despite the increasing global focus on ESG considerations, China's compliance landscape remains primarily discretionary, with many producers adhering solely to minimal local requirements like safety inspections and dust processing measures. Conversely, international companies face growing pressure to adhere to stringent ESG standards to protect their reputations and attract responsible investments. 💯 Looking forward, a convergence of government regulations and investor demands is expected to enforce stricter adherence to ESG policies in the graphite industry. Companies, particularly those in car part manufacturing, must ethically source materials to sustain their competitive advantage. 👀 Benchmark's analysis identifies six synthetic graphite producers as exemplifying "Good Practice" out of 134 evaluated companies, representing nearly 6% of the total graphite output forecasted for 2023. This underscores the sustainability risks linked to graphite sourcing, especially the global dependence on Chinese supply that falls below Western consumer standards. 🫣 Currently, no Chinese firms are classified as "Good" or "Industry Leading" in sustainability, despite around three-quarters of the graphite anode supply chain being based in China. Olivia Lin from Benchmark underscores a prevalent lack of ESG awareness within the graphite industry.
