Still feeling the excitement weeks after attending the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable’s first executive forum, and advocating on behalf of the $1.1 trillion outdoor recreation industry in Washington, DC. POWDR’s CEO, Justin Sibley, spoke at the event about the need to extend beyond what we control directly at our properties to change behavior and make a real impact on climate and sustainability issues. “What is good for the environment also makes good business sense. We need sustainable choices to be mainstream and non-partisan. That’s why we invest in research. We collaborate with partners. And support advocacy.” #sustainability #outdoorrec #advocate #climate #POWDR #PlayForever

Putting a seedling in the ground isn't enough. We must work with local communities to ensure trees are protected and integrated into systems that benefit both parties. With a sustainable system, the impact is not only guaranteed but bountiful 🌳 #climateaction #generationrestoration

We don't just plant trees. Because we know that's not enough. We work with farmers to transform destructive agricultural systems into restorative ones. It's a process the whole world can learn from, and needs to- fast. This Earth Day, consider supporting Trees for the Future as we fight poverty, hunger, and climate change all at once. Reach out to me if you're not sure how. #letsgetplanting #treesforthefuture #regenerativeagriculture #climatechange #sustainability

Social media has revolutionised how we connect, but it’s also deepened inequalities and entrenched echo chambers. For those working in conservation, this presents both a challenge and an opportunity. Platforms often amplify dominant narratives while sidelining marginalised voices. This risks creating a fragmented understanding of the interconnected issues we face—climate change, biodiversity loss, and social injustice. At Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, we’re striving to break this bubble. Our strategy embeds equity and justice at its core, recognising that building a thriving future for nature must include everyone. From rewilding efforts like Allestree Park to initiatives fostering green skills in underrepresented communities, we’re working to ensure diverse voices shape our vision. Breaking through these digital echo chambers means embracing more meaningful dialogue, listening harder, and reaching across divides. It’s not easy, but it’s essential. Together, let’s ensure our digital spaces reflect the inclusive, thriving natural world we aim to create.

Finding peace this week in knowing that it is local communities and governments that are the TRUE leaders in the fight against climate change. Local governments and communities are driving real, tangible change every day. They're... 💧 Innovating in water conservation to protect our resources 🚴 Building sustainable transport networks to reduce emissions 🌳 Planting urban forests and green spaces that cool our cities 🌞 Expanding clean energy infrastructure to reduce reliance on fossil fuels 🤝 Working closely with residents to ensure equity is central to climate resilience While climate challenges are global, local action is where the rubber meets the cool-pavement road. Let’s recognize and support the community leaders, city officials, and grassroots organizations who are driving real change. They are the heart of the climate movement, and they deserve to be celebrated. 👏🌍💚 #ThinkGlobalActLocal #ClimateAction #LocalLeadership #Sustainability #Community #Resilience #ClimateChange #GreenCities #UrbanSustainability Urban Sustainability Directors Network (USDN) Carbon Neutral Cities Alliance Southeast Sustainability Directors Network

At Active Sussex, we’ve joined all 43 Active Partnerships in England in signing the new Environmental Sustainability Commitment. Climate change disproportionately affects those already facing inequalities, and we believe it’s vital to act now to ensure access to sport and physical activity for these groups. By embedding environmental sustainability into everything we do, we’re ensuring a healthier future for everyone.
