Last week, our CEO and founder, Stella Smith, was invited to Downing Street to learn about the importance of women in our economy and the need to invest in them. Currently, for every £1 of equity investment in the UK, just 2p goes to fully female-founded businesses. (Women-led high-growth enterprise taskforce report: 2024) As this fact suggests, discussions which aim to shed light the investment gap are crucial, and we want to say a huge thank you to Rt Hon Rachel Reeves Rachel Reeves and her team for inviting Stella to be a part of such a valuable debate. We hope that through actions like these, we will see progress within the female investment landscape and are proud to be champions of this. We are thrilled to see the new Invest In Women Taskforce which has been created to make the UK the best place in the world to be a female entrepreneur. If women were to start and scale businesses at the same rate as men, that would mean a potential £250bn boost to the UK economy. Currently, there’s a structural under-representation of female investors and female founders: Just 11% of VC committee members being women Only 2% of equity capital going to female-founded businesses The Invest in Women Taskforce is determined to address the disparity, drive sustainable change and support women at all stages of business growth. As a female entrepreneur and business founder our CEO, Rebecca Harding, believes passionately in what they are aiming to achieve. https://lnkd.in/eHDP3ChX #InvestInWomen #FemaleEntrepreneurs #WomenInBusiness #GenderEquality #VCFunding #WomenInvestors #FemaleFounders #EmpowerWomen #WomenInLeadership
