Why did you join the hotel industry? "Meeting interesting people" is not a good reason to join the hotel industry, notwithstanding this is what what most hoteliers will answer when someone mentions this. If you should meet someone interesting and I say IF.......that may be fun in the moment, but overall what does this truly add to your work experience? Nothing.....kan? For me personally, the real advantage to working in the hotel industry is the wide range of skills and experience you would acquire for use, should you choose a career change that represented advancement in either salary or position or both (these do not necessarily go hand in hand). It is also quite useful for our personal lives too.....wifey merajuk, no problem, we can iron the laundry and make the beds. Hungry at midnight? No problem, some of us can cook a delicious fried rice, better than Uncle Roger or Uncle Soon 😅
Looks like Uncle Peter Tan fly lice leh?? 🤣
Been to Uncle Soon? Lets go!!!
Just like a common answer when asked why they want to work in the travel industry...because they like to travel. Even for administration positions.
Thank you Peter Tan for your post. I have learnt to be adaptable, resilient, getting along with other people ( to a point), be diplomatic..
Uncle Soon fried rice...u need to give it a try..ha ha
Well said Peter and great insight
Well went to catering college as my grades didn’t get me into art school …and out of my 30 + students at college I’m the only one still in hospitality I was at a reunion last year ..
Looking Nice
The actual reason why one is still joining in the same industry (for more than 3years) mostly will be different from the answer they gave at the beginning. It is very subjective depends on a various factors once life goes on . It can be very personal answer, but there is no clear right or wrong 🤗
