Awareness around mental health and wellbeing has increased significantly in recent years and it's something we take seriously at Ellis. Here are just a few simple things we (and others can) do to ensure the health and welfare of our employees (our most important asset!). 1. We have a dedicated member of staff who has undergone mental health awareness training to help provide support to anyone who might need it. 2. We have recently created a dedicated ‘Quiet Room’, a space for people to just be, to rest, to cry, to take a moment, to pray – should they ever need it. 3. All staff are encouraged to take an active lunch break – we have many lovely walks on our doorstep – there’s nothing better than connecting with nature and being active. 4. Ellis provides MetLife Group Life Employee Assistance for all staff so, whatever their circumstance they can have access to 24-hour GP support. Sometimes it's just the simple things… #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek #MomentsForMovement

🔍 This Week: Answering Your Most Common Questions! 🔍 At Mental Health Welfare, we’re dedicated to supporting a pro active approach to mental health and well-being in the workplace. This week, I’ll be addressing some of the most common questions I receive. Let’s start with #1: What is the cost? The answer is another question: What is it costing you NOT to support the mental health and well-being of your team? 🤔 Investing in mental health is an investment, not a cost. A recent Deloitte study revealed an average return of £4.20 for every £1 invested in mental well-being. 📈 Our scheme is new and innovative. While many great resources are available, they often take a reactive approach, waiting for issues to arise. We believe in being proactive. When mentally healthy and resilient, individuals are better equipped to handle life’s challenges. And the best part? It can be achieved for less than the price of a cup of coffee! ☕️ Follow us and catch our posts, as this week as I will continue to answer your questions and share insights into how we can create healthier, more resilient workplaces. If you’re interested in learning more, feel free to connect, like, and follow our page for updates. Let’s chat! 🌟💚 #MentalHealth #ProactiveApproach #MentalHealthWelfare

Today, on #WorldMentalHealthDay, we’re shining a light on the importance of supporting the mental wellbeing of our incredible team. 🐾Caring for our caregivers🐾 Our Vets, Nurses and Customer Experience teams dedicate themselves to providing exceptional care to pets and their owners every day. We’re committed to fostering a culture where mental health is prioritised just as much as physical health. Here are a few ways we look after our team: 🌟 Mental health resources: We provide access to counselling services and mental health support for all staff members. ⏳ Flexible working: We provide flexible working to ensure our teams can maintain a healthy work-life balance. 🤝 Peer support: We have several colleagues across our group who have undertaken training to become certified Mental Health First Aiders. Anyone can reach out to one of these trained individuals to receive confidential support. Anyone with an interest in mental health can also put themselves forward for Mental Health First Aider training. 📚 Wellness training: Many of our team members have recently attended a talk by Business Psychologist Sue Firth on the subject of building resilience and managing stress. Sue shared some accompanying resources that are being shared around our surgeries so everyone can benefit. This #WorldMentalHealthDay, we thank our team for the compassion they bring, not just to the pets in our care, but to each other as well. #TheVet #VeterinaryWellness #WorldMentalHealthDay #SupportEachOther #TeamCare #MentalHealthMatters

🌍 Tomorrow marks World Suicide Prevention Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness and taking collective action to prevent suicide. The significance of this day extends beyond individual struggles—it calls upon businesses across Australasia and beyond to step up and support their employees, irrespective of the sector they operate in. In every industry, mental health and wellbeing are integral to the success and happiness of team members. As we observe World Suicide Prevention Day, let us emphasise the importance of fostering a supportive environment within our workplaces. Employers have a vital role to play in identifying team members who may be in need of help and providing the necessary support. No matter the sector, businesses can take proactive steps to support their employees' mental health. From implementing mental health awareness programs and destigmatizing conversations about mental wellbeing to offering access to professional support and resources, there are numerous ways to demonstrate a commitment to employee welfare. Let's work together to create an environment where individuals feel valued, supported, and free to seek help when needed. By prioritising mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, we can contribute to a culture of care and empathy that transcends industry boundaries. #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #MentalHealthMatters #EmployeeWellbeing #SupportiveWorkplaces #Australasia #BusinessCommunity #EndTheStigma #WorkplaceMentalHealth #CollectiveAction #SupportNetworks #EmployeeSupport #HealthyWorkCulture

An Emergency Action Plan is a staple at most workplaces. They are OSHA-required documents that help organize and direct the actions of the employer and employee during emergency situations. Yet, many of these documents do not include how to handle mental health concerns and crises. What's done and said during these interactions is essential to achieve the best outcome possible. The Advanced PT Mental Health Committee is working hard to implement Mental Health Emergency Action Plans at all our clinics and workplaces for our Industrial and Tactical medicine partners. In the spirit of Mental Health Awareness Month, let's work together to change our workplace cultures and develop an emergency action plan that addresses the person as a whole! #mentalhealthmonth #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthEAP #mentalhealthfirstaid Pictured: The Advanced PT Mental Health Committee is virtually working with the Public Safety Training and Response Group to refine our mental health initiatives and plan future ones.

For over 70 years, the Samaritans have offered aid and support to those in need. On this day, Samaritans Awareness Day, we remember the outstanding work of all those volunteers who have, quite literally, saved lives all over the UK. Why today? The date is 24/7 - just like Samaritans helplines. The H&S Department would like to support the Samaritans Awareness Day by reminding all businesses we have a legal responsibility to take a role in this important work and consider the steps their businesses have taken to safeguard mental health in the workplace. Remember, employers have a legal duty to protect workers from stress at work by doing a risk assessment and acting on it. This is the same duty they have to protect people from other health and safety risks. A few things you are required to do; • Complete a First Aid Needs Assessment, which now must include mental health as an aspect. • Identify sources of stress in the workplace, assess them and reduce the risk as far as reasonably practicable. A few things you can consider: • Training your staff to recognise signs of stress in the workplace. • Provide a mental health first aider at work. • Provide occupational health or a mental health service as part of a workplace benefits offering. Please get in touch if you would like to arrange a First Aid Needs Assessment or Mental Health First Aid training, we’d be happy to discuss ways to help your business and look after your people. #SamaritansAwarenessDay #HealthAndSafety #SMEBusiness

Today, our network, the Public Health Advocacy and Research Network based in Somaliland, joins the global community in celebrating World Mental Health Day. This year's theme, "Mental Health in the Workplace," highlights the critical importance of mental well-being in professional environments. In Somaliland, there is a significant lack of evidence about the mental health situation in workplaces, alongside persistent occupational health and safety issues. To effectively address these challenges, strong partnerships among government entities, international non-governmental organizations (INGOs), and the private sector are crucial. Collaborations can lead to comprehensive strategies that enhance mental health and safety standards in the workplace. #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealth #WorkplaceWellness #PublicHealth #Somaliland #MentalHealthAdvocacy
