There is finally a concrete date for other step towards Europe of the Baltic states. The Baltic states will decouple their electricity transmission networks from the Russian controlled BRELL on the February 8th 2025. Connection to Central European Synchronous Area (CESA) will follow the next day. Considering the installation of nine synchronous compensators in the Baltics and two Battery Energy Storage Systems in Latvia the total cost of €1.6 billion sounds reasonable. https://lnkd.in/dmE6TYPD #europe #renewables #sustainability #grid

Recommendation #5 Utilize programs that help you invest in solar, like they are ending tomorrow. Do not wait for programs to be close to their deadline or in jeopardy of disappearing, to try to access them. We've seen a lot of remorse from clients who missed out on funding for their project because they waited too long and those programs disappeared. Program frequently shut down because they run out of funding or an election has occurred and a new government has formed. The #1 most volatile part of renewables is politics, with some political parties being very pro-renewables and others trying to slow or stop their progress. Amongst all the drama in the House of Commons yesterday the Investment Tax Credit was further detailed in the Fall Economic Statement (https://lnkd.in/gZrj7dmR) but how long will this program be around for businesses that want to save 30% when investing in solar?

In the pursuit of clean energy via enhanced geothermal systems, we (with Ben Storey as 1st author) have a new publication in the open-access journal, Processes: "Reactivation of Abandoned Oilfields for Cleaner Energy Generation: Three-Dimensional Modelling of Reservoir Heterogeneity and Geometry". In this paper, we have explored the effects of trap geometry and the presence and types of porosity modifiers on the locally (very) elevated temperatures that can be achieved in these enhanced geothermal systems.
