From coping with the cold to managing academic expectations, every international student’s journey is unique. Winter can be fun, but it’s easy to feel down or unmotivated during this season. In my first winter, I struggled—but by the next, I felt invincible! Here are some strategies that helped me: • 𝗘𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝗶𝘁𝘀 to stay energized without overindulging. • 𝗨𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗼𝗿𝗼 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲, with breaks spent watching an anime episode. • Reading manga to unwind and relax. • 𝗚𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝘂𝗻𝘀 to combat lethargy and boost my mood. • 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 once or twice a week for social connection. • 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 for emotional support and grounding.
